Yohan Cabaye Reportedly the Transfer Target of Liverpool and Arsenal
Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye could face another transfer window of uncertainty as Liverpool and Arsenal do battle for the Frenchman’s signature.
The 27-year-old was linked with a switch to Arsene Wenger’s side throughout the summer, but as January approaches, could ready himself to appear in red of a different kind.
As reported by the Northern Echo and via Ben Jefferson of the Express, Brendan Rodgers’ team are considering bolstering their ranks with a bid for the versatile midfielder:

"Newcastle remain keen to hold onto Cabaye, but reports suggest that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has not given up hope of luring the 27-year-old to the Emirates.
And according to the Northern Echo, Liverpool are also monitoring the situation at St James' Park in the hope that Cabaye might be persuaded to make the move to Anfield.
"
Cabaye has enjoyed a stint of decent form after testing the patience of Newcastle fans during the summer.
As noted by Colin Young of the Daily Mail, the experienced player was fined two weeks’ wages for angrily going on strike after the Magpies turned down a £10 million bid from Arsenal.
He returned to a chorus of boos from Toon Army fans, per Lee Ryder of Newcastle's Chronicle Live, but has quickly won the masses over with a handful of excellent displays this campaign.
The complete midfielder has notched goals against Everton and Liverpool this season, both of which were stunning strikes to help Newcastle's cause.
He also laid on a pinpoint free-kick assist for Yoan Gouffran’s opening goal during the recent 2-0 win over Chelsea and has appeared in eight Premier League games this season, per Who Scored.
Jefferson’s report suggests Roma and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the player who possesses an array of attractive abilities. His passing accuracy, tackling skills and eye for the spectacular makes him an appealing prospect, although potential buyers may balk at his £18 million valuation.
Cabaye’s style of play would fit in at both Arsenal and Liverpool. He is more than capable of slotting into Arsene Wenger’s free-flowing midfield alongside the likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey, while he could also fulfil the swashbuckling role of Jordan Henderson at Liverpool.
Both Pardew and Cabaye will be hoping to escape a repeat of the summer's events.
Should the player be destined to move on, it's in everyone's interests to tie a deal up quickly and without major hassle.
