EPL Week 11 Predictions: Projecting Top Performers and Biggest Surprises

Patrick ClarkeJun 8, 2018

Premier League Week 11 will be highlighted by Sunday's monumental clash between defending champions Manchester United and league leaders Arsenal at Old Trafford.

But anxious fans can look forward to much more than this week's marquee collision between the Red Devils and Gunners.

With a full slate of matches and plenty of stars on display, Saturday and Sunday's action is sure to produce some elite performers and several surprises.

Top Performers

Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

Manchester City's Sergio Aguero, who is currently tied with Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge atop the individual goalscoring list, is poised for a monster performance against Sunderland on Sunday.

The Citizens will travel to the Stadium of Light to take on the reeling Black Cats.

No club in the league has allowed more goals this season than Sunderland, who are surrendering more than two per match. And given Aguero's nose for goal (eight goals and four assists in nine EPL appearances), No. 10 is ready to explode.

Luis Suarez, Liverpool

After recording a hat-trick against West Brom, Luis Suarez was shut out against Arsenal last week. But don't expect the Uruguayan superstar's drought to continue this weekend at Anfield.

Liverpool will host Fulham, a club that's conceded 15 goals in 10 league matches this season.

Suarez scored once his last time out against the Cottagers in a match that wound up 4-0 in the Reds' favor. And this time around, Suarez is on a blistering pace, having scored six goals in five Premier League starts since returning from suspension

Only four Premier League clubs are conceding goals at a higher rate than Fulham. Two of those cubs are Sunderland and Crystal Palace, whom Suarez has netted a combined three goals against since his return.

Biggest Surprises

Aston Villa Will Prevail at Villa Park

Watch for Aston Villa to win just their second league match at Villa Park when they host Cardiff City on Saturday.

The Lions have dropped four of five Premier League tilts at home this season and have been outscored 9-4 in those matches. While Cardiff City haven't been dominant on the road, the Bluebirds have only lost two of five league matches away from their stadium.

But after picking up a draw at West Ham last week, Villa will be ready to build on that positive result at home. With Cardiff having scored just one goal over their last two away matches, look for Villa to pick up a massive win on Saturday en route to leapfrogging the Bluebirds in the league table.

Aston Villa 1, Cardiff City 0

Southampton Will Continue March to Top of Table

The surprising Saints are sure to keep up their impressive pace this weekend against Hull City.

Southampton have been dominating defensively through their first 10 matches this season, and that shouldn't change on Saturday. The Saints have conceded just four goals thus far, which ranks best in the EPL.

That doesn't bode well for a Hull City squad that has poured in just eight through the first quarter of the season. Watch for Mauricio Pochettino's men to crack down defensively and squeak by with a hard-fought 1-0 win at St. Mary's Stadium this weekend.

The three points gained will propel the Saints even higher in the league table.

Southampton 1, Hull City 0
