Nebraska vs. Michigan: TV Info, Spread, Injury Updates, Game Time and More

Jun 8, 2018

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Michigan Wolverines head into a Big Ten showdown on the heels of two very different performances the week prior.

Nebraska, now 6-2 and 3-1 in the conference, won last week over a tough Northwestern squad in jaw-dropping fashion:

Things were not as great for the Wolverines, a team that now sits at 6-2 and 2-2 in the conference after a humbling but unsurprising 29-6 loss to then-ranked No. 22 Michigan State.

Which Quarterback Will Rebound?

The quarterback situation for both Michigan and Nebraska was a nightmare one week ago.

Michigan's Devin Gardner was abused in the loss to the Spartans as he was sacked seven times and managed just 210 yards and an interception.

Nebraska is dealing with injury issues, as senior starter Taylor Martinez will once again miss a game with a long list of injuries, per ESPN's Mitch Sherman:

Martinez's absence means freshman Tommy Armstrong Jr. will once again get the start, and he's been anything but encouraging in his past two starts in recent weeks:

Purdue6 18 4333.3 0 34 51
Northwestern15 29 173 51.71317 691

With inexperience hurting Armstrong and inaccuracy marring Gardner, whichever quarterback can overcome their issues will go a long way in contributing to a victory.

Prediction

It was on full display last week—when Armstrong is let loose on the ground, he can be a difference maker through the air for the Cornhuskers.

That doesn't bode well for Michigan, a team that allowed the Spartans to rack up 29 points last week—a team that has been woeful offensively against credible opponents.

Outside of discovering Armstrong's prowess on the ground, the Cornhuskers have one of the nation's best backs in Ameer Abdullah, who has rushed for 1,108 yards and six scores on a 7.1 average with 100 or more yards in seven of eight games, including a current streak of five in a row.

Michigan will put up more of a fight than its touchdown-less performance against the nation's best defense a week ago, but the Cornhuskers have a plethora amount of momentum and a favorable matchup.

Expect Brady Hoke to suffer his first loss in The Big House in a close fashion.

Final Score

Cornhuskers win 42-38
