USC vs. Oregon State: TV Info, Spread, Injury Updates, Game Time and More

Jun 8, 2018

The Oregon State Beavers find themselves once again in an advantageous position against the USC Trojans on Friday from Reser Stadium.

A loss to No. 6 Stanford last week hurts for the Beavers, but an up-and-down Trojans team coming to town is nothing but good news, especially considering USC has not won in Reser Stadium since 2004.

USC enters the contest riding a wave of momentum after a big win over Utah a week ago, but needs this victory more than ever to break a 2-2 record in Pac 12 play and get back to contention.

Can USC Slow Sean Mannion?

Beavers junior quarterback Sean Mannion has been the definition of unstoppable this season. He is the nation's leading passer, averaging a ludicrous 408 yards per game—Oregon State as a whole possesses the nation's best passing attack.

In eight games this season, Mannion has thrown for over 400 yards and four or more touchdowns on five occasions.

USC's pass defense has been stout all year and has allowed just two quarterbacks to break the 300-yard mark, although both Arizona's B.J. Denker and Arizona State's Taylor Kelly reside in Mannion's neighborhood talent-wise.

When tasked with shutting down the elite aforementioned quarterbacks, the USC defense has surrendered 31 points to Arizona and 62 to Arizona State. It's a small blemish on a unit that overall has been great with only 19.3 points allowed per game, but a problem worth nothing against the Beavers.

Prediction

This one won't end well for the Trojans.

Reser Stadium is clearly an extremely hostile environment, and the Beavers are a week removed from almost knocking off a top-10 team in the very same building.

Things have been slowly improving for USC under interim head coach Ed Orgeron, but his defense has yet to prove it can slow elite offenses, not to mention it has never met the No. 1 passing attack in the land.

Cody Kessler and the Trojans offense averages only 24.6 points per game and simply does not have the firepower to keep up, especially in a noisy environment. The Beavers notch another impressive win over the Trojans.

Final Score

Beavers win 36-28
