Liga MX Results: Best Goals and Complete Results from Matchday 15

Karla Villegas GamaOct 28, 2013

Another week in the books for the Liga MX, and it surely was very peculiar. Matchday 15 brought three victories, all by the same score (3-1), and six draws.

America are still in control and lead the tournament with 35 points, six clear from Santos.

Atlas finally won their first match and they did it on home soil against Queretaro. However, the Zorros are still 15th in the general table.

The battle to avoid relegation is still tight. Atlante sit last with 0.9277 pints, while Atlas have 1.0482.

Let’s take a look at all the details of Matchday 15.

Morelia could not take advantage of playing on home turf and tied with Guadalajara. Chivas have no longer a chance to qualify to the playoffs (Liguilla).

The other teams that will not play in the final stage of the season are Monterrey, Atlas, UNAM and Atlante.

On the other hand, America, Santos and Leon have already secured their ticket to the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, Toluca, Cruz Azul, Morelia, Chiapas, Queretaro, Veracruz and Tigres are very close to sealing the deal.

Tijuana, Puebla and Pachuca are not out just yet, but they have to win in the next couple of matchdays and wait for the other teams' results.

These are the results of Matchday 15.

5. Humberto Suazo, Monterrey

2 of 7

Humberto Suazo has always been characterized for being a player that can unbalance the defense with long runs and powerful shots.

His ball-striking is also one of his most valuable assets especially in set pieces, like he proved against Chiapas.

4. Rubens Sambueza, America

3 of 7

Rubens Sambueza got his fifth goal of the 2013 Apertura last Saturday.

The recently naturalized footballer continues to be a thriving force for America. Sambueza not only scores but also helps his teammates. He has three assists in this tournament.

3. Mauricio Castañeda, Leon

4 of 7

Mauricio Castañeda was in the right place at the right time. The Leon striker scored the second goal of his team in the 82nd minute, which put the Panzas Verdes ahead of Toluca, momentarily.

Castañeda received a cross by Hernan Burbano and put it away with one touch.

2. Leandro Gracian, Queretaro

5 of 7

Leandro Gracian had been on the pitch for less than five minutes when he made a fantastic cut and sent the ball to the back of the net with a long-distance shot.

With his goal, Gracian gave some hope to Queretaro, as the Gallos Blancos were down 2-0 in the 73rd minute. However, Atlas scored the third one just nine minutes before the final whistle.

1. Flavio Santos, Atlas

6 of 7

Flavio Santos made quite a play to put Atlas 2-0 against Queretaro.

The 26-year-old received the ball in the center of the pitch and made a run to the center of the box that included two cuts and a powerful shot to the corner of the goal.
