Premier League Table 2013 Week 10: Latest Standings, Predictions for Matchday 10

Austin GreenJun 8, 2018

The ninth week of the 2013 English Premier League season is in the books.

While there weren't a ton of shakeups in the standings, the table does look a little different heading into Matchday 10.

Southampton has continued their surprising ascension through the EPL, momentarily vaulting into third place with a 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday. The Saints are now just four points behind first-place Arsenal, who also won on Saturday.

Unfortunately for the Saints, their time in the top three didn't last long. Chelsea rode a late Fernando Torres goal to a 2-1 victory over Manchester City and a second-place spot in the table.

Liverpool and Tottenham also recorded victories over the weekend, and they sit in third and fourth place, respectively.

Here are the complete standings following the Matchday 9 action.

*as of Sunday, Oct. 27.

With Sunday's matches complete, it's time to turn our attention to Matchday 10, which features eight games on Saturday, Nov. 1 and two on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Matchday 10 Predictions

Arsenal vs. Liverpool

It wasn't pretty, but the Gunners remained atop the table after a 2-0 victory over basement-dwelling Crystal Palace. Now, Arsene Wenger's club must prepare for their toughest challenge of the season.

Arsenal has mostly been feasting on lowly teams, and just a few weeks ago, they tied with 12th-place West Brom. Now that there's a legitimately dangerous squad on the other side, I'm expecting the Gunners to suffer their first Premier League loss since August.

Liverpool demolished West Brom on Saturday, cruising to a 4-1 win thanks to three Luis Suarez goals. Suarez now has six goals in just four Premier League appearances this season.

Against an Arsenal team that is allowing a goal per game, Suarez should be able to find the net and lead his team into first place.

Final prediction: Liverpool 2 - Arsenal 1

Everton vs. Tottenham

Other than Arsenal vs. Liverpool, this is the premier matchup of the weekend. With both of these teams near the top of the table, their result on Sunday could have drastic effects.

Both clubs are playing well, riding two-game winning streaks into their showdown. Tottenham beat Hull City 1-0 on Sunday, and Everton is coming off a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

While each has been strong, look Tottenham to prove they are the better team.

It should be a low-scoring affair, as the Spurs have allowed just five goals this season (Everton has allowed 10).

If French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris continues his solid play and prevents Romelu Lukaku (five goals) from wreaking havoc, the Spurs will have a great chance to catapult themselves into the top three.

Final prediction: Tottenham 1 - Everton 0
