College Gameday 2013: Week 9 Schedule, Location, Predictions and More

Brian MaziqueJun 3, 2018

The third-ranked and undefeated Oregon Ducks were a big enough draw to entice the ESPN College Gameday crew to Eugene, Ore. for their game against the No. 12-ranked UCLA Bruins.

Per Bovada, the Ducks are favored by 23 points. UCLA is coming off a 24-10 loss to Stanford in Week 8, but the Bruins are still the highest-ranked team the Ducks will have faced this season.

This Pac 12 battle will be the center of the college football world in Week 9. Here's how you can watch the ESPN preview.

Can the Bruins Upset the Ducks?

Before Stanford shut down the Bruins in Week 8, many fans would have suggested UCLA's offense could compete with the Ducks' explosive attack. After all, the Bruins hadn't scored less than 34 points in a game before it ran into the Cardinal.

That offense isn't looking as explosive now.

Oregon's defense has held teams to just 17.3 points per game this season. The unit will be looking to keep the Bruins offense scuffling. One main way to accomplish this is to control the ball on offense.

With a running game that averages 332 yards per game, the Ducks have the tools to accomplish this. Heisman frontrunner Marcus Mariota has engineered this offense perfectly this season, and UCLA isn't likely to slow them down.

Playing in Oregon obviously doesn't help UCLA's efforts. The Bruins haven't won in Eugene since 2004 and haven't beaten the Ducks anywhere since 2007. This isn't the year UCLA snaps its losing streak.

Oregon will win, 42-24.

Should the Crew Be in Missouri?

Chris Fowler acknowledged the desire of Missouri Tigers fans to have the show hosted in the Show Me State, but the SEC's newest powerhouse lost out to Oregon.

Two-straight conference wins have the Tigers ranked fifth in the nation. This week, the team has another tough conference foe in front of them. Jadeveon Clowney leads the No. 21 South Carolina Gamecocks into town to try and knock off the Tigers.

Missouri's offense has proven to be effective against SEC defenses. In wins over the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators, the Tigers averaged 38.5 points. During the Georgia game, Missouri lost starting quarterback James Franklin to injury.

Freshman Maty Mauk stepped in nicely against the Gators.

Mauk threw for 295 yards and a touchdown in the Week 8 win. Mauk figures to see the most dynamic pass-rusher he'll ever see in Clowney. While No. 7 may have his moments, overall, the Gamecocks have been inconsistent all season.

Their 5-2 record is deceiving. Both losses have come in SEC play as the team has feasted on bad teams. The combined record of the teams the Gamecocks have beaten is 15-19. When faced with a hungry and talented team like Missouri on the road, the Gamecocks won't get it done.

Look for the Tigers to take this one going away, 40-14. Here is a list of the entire schedule and predictions for each game.
