College Football Week 9 Schedule: TV and Live Stream Info for Every Game
While Week 9 of the college football season doesn't offer up a matchup with two teams in the Top 10 of the BCS standings, it makes up for that by offering four battles with teams in the Top 25.
The most notable is No. 3 Oregon hosting No. 12 UCLA on Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN. The Ducks continue to cruise through the season. Through seven games, Oregon's hasn't won by fewer than 21 points. That was a 45-24 victory in Seattle over a Washington Huskies team that was ranked No. 16 at the time.
However, that does remain the Ducks lone game this season against a team that was ranked. So, for as good as this team has looked, it still has something to prove.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how stiffly UCLA can challenge the Ducks. The Bruins are No. 12 but are coming off of their first loss of the season. That came against No. 6 Stanford, and the Cardinal dominated that game en route to emerging with a 24-10 victory.
That remains UCLA's second effort against a ranked team this season.
While the Bruins' defense has been playing well and will enter this game ranked 18th in the nation in points against, Oregon's speed will test that defense in a different way.
That isn't the only marquee Pac-12 matchup of the weekend. No. 6 Stanford will travel to take on No. 25 Oregon State.
The Beavers are sneaking under the radar, which is understandable. Oregon State fell at home 49-46 to the Big Sky's Eastern Washington in the season opener. At that point, it seemed safe to write this team off for the season.
However, the Beavers have won all six games since and are improving as the season continues. Last week, they drubbed Cal, 49-17. A win in this game, and the Beavers would be due for a big jump in the rankings. Not that that will be easy.
Stanford rebounded nicely from their upset loss to Utah on Oct. 12 by beating UCLA last week. This team still has its national championship hopes in tact, and will no doubt be looking to make a statement in this game.
Another ranked matchup comes with the No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners hosting No. 10 Texas Tech. The Red Raiders still haven't tasted defeat this season and enter this game with some impressive stats. They are 15th in the nation in scoring and 16th in points allowed. At 416.4, they are also second in the nation in passing yards.
However, the Red Raiders also haven't played a team as talented as Oklahoma.
It's not like the Sooners have been severely tested yet, either. They have a 35-21 win over Notre Dame. While the Irish were ranked at the time, that win has become less impressive as the season has advanced.
The Sooners were also fairly easily handled by Texas in a 36-20 defeat on Oct. 12.
This sets the stage for what should be a fun game, and if the Red Raiders pull out a victory, they will begin to enter the national championship picture.
Our last ranked matchup of the week is No. 21 South Carolina travelling to take on Missouri.
Missouri has a two-game lead in the SEC East, and South Carolina will be desperate to close that gap. However, the Gamecocks will have to do that without injured starting quarterback Connor Shaw.
Of course, Missouri will be playing without their starting quarterback, James Franklin, for the second consecutive game.
Franklin's absence didn't keep his team from beating Florida and its quality defense by the score of 36-17 last week. The Tigers will look to further entrench themselves in the championship picture with a win in this game.
Now, in case those games weren't enough for you, here is when and where you can catch a few more.
