Schalke vs. Chelsea: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Richard LangfordJun 1, 2018

Chelsea will travel to take on FC Schalke 04 on Tuesday, as Jose Mourinho's club looks to join the Bundesliga side atop the Group E table.

Schalke has yet to drop a point in Champions League play after shutout victories over Steaua Bucharest and FC Basel.

Meanwhile, the Blues are still trying to make up for losing 2-1 to Basel in their Champions League opener. The Blues have been in nice form as of late. In their last three matches, all wins, Chelsea has outscored their competition 11-2.

Top Storyline: Can Schalke keep their Champions League opponents scoreless?

As I mentioned above, Schalke has yet to allow a goal in their two Champions League matches. The brilliant play of goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand has helped facilitate this impressive start.

However, that defense is going to be tested much more heavily in this match. Chelsea has been scoring goals with ease as of late.

Chelsea's midfield has been the impetus for this streak. Players like Oscar, Juan MataEden HazardFrank Lampard, Ramires and Andre Schurrle all appear to be finding their groove at the same time.

However, while the midfielders have surged, the strikers have struggled.

Schalke will have to focus on slowing down that midfield attack and then hope the strikers don't start to make up for their slacking production if the German side wants to keep that impressive defensive streak rolling.

Prediction: Chelsea 1, Schalke 0

While both of these teams have been pouring in goals lately, both have quality defenses and scoring is going to be far harder to come by in this match.

Chelsea will net an early goal to help keep the crowd at bay and then prevail after the rest of the match turns into a defensive battle.
