As the action continues to heat up in Week 9, a couple things are certain: We're bound to see a few surprising outcomes this week, and we better get used to teams moving around the table during the next few weeks of competition.
Here are a few outcomes this week that definitely could surprise the EPL fans out there.
Stoke City vs. Manchester United
Man U is currently hanging around the No. 8 spot and still aren't playing extremely consistently with a record of 3-3-2, with their latest result coming in a 1-1 draw with Southampton. Man U just haven't looked like they're in championship form, only scoring one more goal than the amount of goals they've given up in Premier League play so far.
Stoke City are also having a rough go as of late, losing three of their last four matches and only scoring one goal in those contests. What Stoke City do have are the chance to play upsetting underdog and a matchup with an inconsistent Man U team that has been playing to the level of its EPL opponents each week.
Even with that factor, Stoke City will have to be at the top of their game, which may only be enough for a draw.
Prediction: Man U 1, Stoke City 1
West Bromwich vs. Liverpool
Liverpool have been on fire with a record of 5-1-2 and a plus-6 goal differential so far in Premier League play. Daniel Sturridge has been on a tear, finding the net seven times in Premier League play and acting as a major player in Liverpool's campaign so far that has the club in third in the EPL.
Enter West Brom. West Brom are all the way at No. 12 with just two wins. West Brom do, however, have four draws, two of which came against Everton and Arsenal, who are No. 6 and No. 1 in the EPL, respectively.
Liverpool are real good with solid goal differential, but West Brom play well against top teams in the EPL and will have a chance to do it again against Liverpool in Week 9.
Prediction: West Brom 1, Liverpool 0
Aston Villa vs. Everton
Aston Villa aren't as intimidating an opponent as they used to be, but they'll have a huge opportunity against sixth-ranked Everton to climb through the ranks. Aston Villa, led by Christian Benteke's four EPL goals, haven't pulled a win since their Sept. 28 matchup with Manchester City, but they're overdue.
Everton are the chance Aston Villa have been waiting for. Everton come into this game with just one game decided by more than one goal this season and have allowed a goal in all but three of their games. Everton and Villa are all about offense, which will make this into a higher-scoring affair, and with Benteke in Aston Villa's corner, the Villans will have a good shot at keeping it close and even winning over Everton.
Prediction: Aston Villa 3, Everton 2
