Real Madrid vs. Malaga: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and Preview

Richard LangfordJun 8, 2018

Real Madrid will look to defend their home pitch as Malaga roll into town for a La Liga clash this Saturday. Madrid are understandably heavy favorites for this match.

Los Blancos should come out focused and ready to strike because they are already staring at a three-point deficit to both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the table.

Those two clubs have left the rest of the league no margin for error as they flaunt their perfect records.

Atletico's 100 percent record comes at the expense of their city rivals. Real Madrid fell 1-0 to the front-running squad on Sept. 28, which was the last time Los Blancos played at Santiago Bernabeu in a La Liga game.

Meanwhile, Malaga sit in 10th place in the table, 10 points behind Real Madrid. Malaga enter this one off the back of a disappointing 1-0 home loss to Osasuna and could desperately use at least a point here to get their campaign back on track.

Top Storyline: Who will prevail in this battle of Real's coaching past and future?

Yes, Carlo Ancelotti is Real Madrid's present, but his tenure is in its infancy and this team is still forming its identity. In other words, Real Madrid are far from a finished product.

He will be looking for some added polish from his squad in this match while he battles with a coach who is part of Los Blancos past.

Bernd Schuster heads Malaga, and I have no doubt he relishes every chance he gets to try and prove to his former team that a mistake was made when he was dumped rather abruptly in 2008.

Schuster faces long odds to try and prove that point in this one, but with Real Madrid's uneven efforts early this campaign, perhaps his club can roll out of town with a shock win.

Prediction: Real Madrid 2, Malaga 1

I expect a nice effort from Malaga and I see this match being tied at one at the half and well into the second. This will create for a bit of tension in the stadium.

However, Real Madrid's firepower will wear down Malaga and pave the way for the win in the end.
