Premier League Week 6 Fixtures: Full Picks and Predictions for Matchday 6

With a wild Week 5 producing perception-shifting upsets, I'm not feeling quite as confident about my predictions. 

This Saturday, the Premier League offers us seven matches. So, instead of trying to predict the whole week, I'm going to try and ease back into this and regain some prognostication momentum. 

On the surface, this is not the sexiest slate of matches, but that certainly doesn't mean they won't wind up to be thrilling. 

Check out the schedule and my predictions, and then I'll offer up a more in-depth look at three of my predictions. 

Tottenham vs. Chelsea

When: Saturday, Sept. 28 at 12:45 p.m. BST/7:45 a.m. ET

Where: White Hart Lane

Prediction: Tottenham 1, Chelsea 0 

This London Derby should be a fun one. Tottenham is tied atop the table with Arsenal while Chelsea lurks just two points back. 

Chelsea will put special emphasis on this match as they look to chase Tottenham down. However, they will likely have to complete the task at less than full strength. Both Ramires and Marco van Ginkel, as Dan Levene of the Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle reports, very well could miss this match. 

This leaves Chelsea's midfield a bit thin and Tottenham will be eager to prove they can topple Chelsea. 

Chelsea has dominated Tottenham in EPL play over the years. However, Tottenham has been playing them well at home. Chelsea invaded White Hart Lane last year and escaped with a 4-2 win, but Tottenham had been undefeated at home against Chelsea in the previous six meetings between the two. 

Andre Villas-Boas leads an improved Tottenham squad, and he will have his players gunning to take down a depleted Chelsea.  

Swansea City vs. Arsenal

When: Saturday, Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m. BST/12:30 p.m. ET

Where: Liberty Stadium

Prediction: Swansea City 2, Arsenal 3 

With two passing-oriented teams and a gaggle of talented midfielders, this match should be fast-paced and exciting. 

Swansea City is five points back of Arsenal in the table. So a win in this match would go a long way towards giving the Swans an early boost. 

With the quick and fluid style of play this match will feature, fans will see plenty of goals. That isn't going to scare Swansea City off. The Swans have scored two goals in each of their last three EPL contests. 

They will make that four in a row in this match. Unfortunately for them, that won't be enough to put them on the right side of the outcome. Arsenal is in a groove and the Gunners have scored three goals in each of their last two EPL contests. They will also continue their recent scoring trend. 

Aston Villa vs. Manchester City

When: Saturday, Sept. 28 at 3 p.m. BST/10 a.m. ET

Where: Villa Park

Prediction: Manchester City 3, Aston Villa 1

Manchester City has ample firepower. There hasn't been any denying that. However, this squad got off to a bit of an uneven start as they adjusted to Manuel Pellegrini and integrated all the new parts. 

That integration appears to be coming along nicely. In their last three matches, the Citizens beat Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League 3-0, then destroyed the Red Devils at Old Trafford 4-1 and then posted five while blanking Wigan Athletic in the Capital One Cup. 

So, following their recent trend, City will score three this game.

While I don't think the Citizens will stay on the arc of their trend, they will keep their offensive prowess rolling and walk out of this one with a fairly comfortable win.
