Borussia Monchengladbach 4-1 Eintracht Braunschweig
1 of 9The Bundesliga weekend kicked off with a thumping 4-1 win for Gladbach againstย Eintracht Braunschweig.
Oscar Wendt put the home side ahead on 22 minutes, then Raffael doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark.
Mirko Boland pulled one back, but striker Max Kruse put the game out of sight with a goal in the 72nd minute and Raffael helped himself to a second to complete the scoring.
Hamburg 0-2 Werder Bremen
2 of 9Bert van Marwijk will assume managerial duties of Hamburg in the coming days, and he wonโt have been all that impressed by his new clubโs 2-0 loss at home to Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Nils Petersen scored both goals for the guestsโa left-footed shot past Rene Adler shortly after the hour-mark and a long-distance drive from well outside the box in the final minute of normal time.
The win takes Bremen to ninth in the table heading into Sundayโs matches while Hamburg, with only a single win so far this season, are third from bottom in the Bundesliga standings.
Hannover 2-1 Augsburg
3 of 9Goals from Artur Sobiech and Szabolcs Huszti helped overturn a second-half deficit as Hannover slipped past Augsburg 2-1 at HDI-Arena.
Paul Verhaegh had given the guests the lead from the spot after Salif Sane was called for handball just five minutes after the restart, but by the hour-mark Hannover were back on level termsโSobiechโs left-footer beating goalkeeper Alexander Manninger inside the right-hand corner.
It looked as though the two sides were headed for a splitting of the points until Matthias Ostrzolek was whistled for hand-ball with only two minutes remaining, and Huszti stepped up and converted the resulting penalty to deliver the full three points to his side.
Mainz 1-4 Bayer Leverkusen
4 of 9Bayer Leverkusen kept the heat on Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich with a convincing 4-1 victory away to Mainz that helped erase the memory of their 4-2 defeat against Manchester United in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Robbie Kruse got the demolition job started in the 19th minute with a quick strike to the bottom, left-hand corner of the goal following a pass from Sidney Sam, and Leverksen added two more goals late in the opening periodโLars Bender scoring from outside the area in the 38th minute and Kruse bagging a second in the 45th.
Stefan Kiessling got his name on the scoresheet shortly before the hour-mark with a headed effort from a Simon Rolfes cross, and Mainz managed to pull one back with eight minutes remaining when Yunus Malli beat Bernd Leno from in close.
Nurnberg 1-1 Borussia Dortmund
5 of 9Borussia Dortmund conceded points for just the first time this seasonโPer Nilsson scoring what proved to be the equalizer just six minutes after the restart.
Marcel Schmelzer had opened the scoring for the guests with only eight minutes to play in the first half when his spectacular free-kick from well outside the area beat Nurnberg goalkeeper Raphael Schafer the top, right-hand corner of the goal.
But Nilsson ensured Nurnberg would at least take a point from the encounter when, following Emanuel Pogatetzโ free kick, he roofed his effort past Roman Weidenfeller from in close.
Wolfsburg 2-1 Hoffenheim
6 of 9Wolfsburg are in the European places heading into Sunday thanks to a pair of Ivica Olic goals that helped them slip past Hoffenheim at Volkswagen Arena.
The guests had gone in front after only 15 minutes when Anthony Modeste beat Diego Benaglio from a tight angle.
But a pair of Olic goals on either side of the interval turned a one-goal deficit into a one-goal victory. His second tallyโin the 48th minuteโcame from the far corner of the box and beat goalkeeper Koen Casteels inside the far post.
Schalke 0-4 Bayern Munich
7 of 9Bayern Munich were firing on all four cylinders, Saturday, and ended the day level with Dortmund atop the table following a convincing 4-0 win away to Schalke.
The โBattle of the Boatengsโ looked like it was headed Bayernโs way after just 22 minutes, by which time both Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Mandzukic had found the back of the net.
But if there was any doubt as to where the three points were headed it was put to rest by Franck Ribery, who with 15 minutes remaining connected with David Alabaโs ball and delicately slipped the ball past Timo Hildebrand.
Claudio Pizzarro added a further measure of insurance with six minutes remaining when he latched onto Thomas Mullerโs ball and beat Hildebrand from in close.
Freiburg 1-1 Hertha Berlin
8 of 9Hertha Berlin overcame an early deficit to draw 1-1 at Freiburg on Sunday afternoon.
The home side took the lead after 6 minutes, with Admir Mehmedi rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home coolly after a sublime through-ball from Sebastian Freis had split the defence wide open.
Per Skjelbred provided the response for Hertha, getting a stray leg or a long throw flicked on at the near post just before halftime.
The result leaves die Alte Dame looking solid and safe in midtable, but Freiburg are still winless.
Stuttgart 1-1 Frankfurt
9 of 9
Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt also played out a 1-1 draw, rounding off a Bundesliga Sunday of stalemates.
Marco Russ, often among the goals at the moment, opened the scoring, firing high into the net after Stephan Aigner diverted the ball into his path.
The home side responded just two minutes later, with Timo Werner netting a header to get his colleagues back on level terms.
Vedad Ibisevic had a golden opportunity in the final minute to seal a Stuttgart win with a penalty, but fired inexplicably wide.
