Diego Maradona Threatens Nightclub with Closure If They Don't Play More Music
Diego Maradona has been caught on film demanding that a nightclub in Buenos Aires continue to play music for him at 7 a.m.
The Argentine football legend, now 52 years old, was out on the tiles with his 22-year-old fiancee Rocio Olivera.
Judging by pictures that have emerged of him balancing a beer glass on his head earlier in the evening via Yahoo, it certainly appears that the night was going well.
However, when the party appeared to be grinding to a halt as the sun came up, Maradona was less than impressed.
As translated by Dirty Tackle blog, Maradona said:
"If you do not play more music, I'll have [Argentina secretary of commerce Guillermo] Moreno close this place because Moreno is with me and you'll suck ****.
"
The proprietor, however, was filming the incident and the footage has subsequently made its way to national television in Maradona's homeland.
Maradona has never been the shy and retiring type, although he is currently not involved in football after leaving Al Wasl in 2012.
Before that, he had a stint as manager of the Argentina national team, leading a lineup including the likes of Lionel Messi into the 2010 World Cup.
Those spells in management came after lengthy battles with alcohol, cocaine and obesity. The problems began during his playing career, and worsened dramatically following his retirement—though it appeared by 2007 that he had conquered his addictions.
Many still wonder what kind of career Maradona might have enjoyed had he not suffered with a substance abuse problem.
