Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Jose Mourinho Comments and Deadline Gossip

Tom SunderlandJun 8, 2018

With less than 24 hours to go before the European summer window shuts up shop for another nine months, clubs are searching feverishly to sew up the deals they need in such a small amount of time.

Chelsea have been as involved as any other team after Jose Mourinho made his Stamford Bridge return earlier this year.

However, the manager has made some comments of late that may suggest the club is done until the January window opens. Or is it?

Mourinho’s Latest Comments

A man of few words at times, Mourinho wasn’t leaving much to the imagination when asked about whether or not his side would be adding any more players in this transfer window, replying: "I don't think so."

That's according to the Daily Mail's Gerard Brand, which could make Christian Atsu and Samuel Eto'o the final arrivals at the West London club for a few months.

With just a day left in the window, it would be hard to see the Blues pulling off any shock signings that haven't already been talked about at length, but with the combination of wealth and management at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho may yet pull a surprise out of the bag.

Victor Moses Farmed Out to Liverpool

With the wings being one of the most well-covered areas, if not the most well-covered, of Chelsea's squad, first-team opportunities would appear more and more difficult to come by in West London.

One of the faces set to feel the brunt of the competition there is Victor Moses, who, in addition to Ede Hazard, Kevin de Bruyne and Juan Mata, must now battle with Andre Schuerrle and Willian for a starting place, too.

This has led Phil McNulty of BBC Sport to state that the winger will head out on loan to Liverpool before the window closes.

At Anfield, Moses will not only fit in the plans Brendan Rodgers is looking to push, but he will also have a much easier time of beating Jordan Henderson, Fabio Borini and Iago Aspas to the starting XI.

Christian Atsu Joining the Vitesse Legion

In recent seasons, Chelsea have seen an increasing amount of their starlet signings and academy products move to Vitesse Arnhem on loan in a form of partnership between the two clubs.

According to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, the winger, who was signed for a fee of £3.5 million, won't have time to get used to his West London setting and will instead head straight to Holland on loan.

The club's official Twitter account backed this up:

Lucas Piazon, Patrick van Aanholt, Gael Kakuta and Cristian Cuevas are all already at the club, bringing this season's loan counter between the two clubs up to five.
