AJ McCarron is a two-time national championship-winning starting quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide, so he is more than capable of handling himself on the football field. When it comes to trolls on Twitter, however, McCarron's girlfriend, Katherine Webb, has him covered.

An overzealous Twitter user thought he was being clever when he tweeted a screen grab of an ESPN ScoreCenter update regarding McCarron being in a walking boot due to an ingrown toenail. He directed it at Webb, and called McCarron a "whimp," (sic) but Webb's sharp-tongued response quickly put him in his place.

Aside from Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, McCarron has been the talk of the college football world since being spotted in a walking boot. But Alabama head coach Nick Saban called it a precautionary measure, and said that his star signal-caller would be fine to play against Virginia Tech on Saturday, according to ESPN.com.

Webb was thrust into the national spotlight earlier this year as the former Miss Alabama beauty queen was constantly shown in the crowd during Alabama's 42-14 drubbing of Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship Game back in January. She became an instant sensation due to her striking beauty as well as announcer Brent Musburger's infatuation with her over the course of the game.

Since that incident, Webb has become hugely popular. She appeared on the reality television show Splash and was featured in the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit IssueIn addition to that, Webb now has more than 256,000 Twitter followers, and she delighted most of them when she rushed to McCarron's defense.

Webb got the last laugh in her Twitter battle, and all signs point to McCarron getting the last laugh on the football field as his Crimson Tide are hefty 21.5-point favorites against the Hokies.

It will be interesting to see if Webb's Twitter antagonist will have anything more to say if the Tide rolls yet again on Saturday.
