College Football Week 1 Schedule: TV and Live Stream Info for Every Game
Week 1 on the college football schedule is a national holiday of sorts here in the United States.
Like the first shoots of a new spring, these games represent life for football-starved fans across the nation.
Georgia and Clemson are the No. 5 and No. 8 teams in the nation, respectively, according to both the Associated Press and the USA Today polls. The Bulldogs will travel to Death Valley to take on the Tigers to start the season.
Tajh Boyd and Sammy Watkins enter the season as potential Round 1 NFL draft picks in 2014, and as such the duo will be highly scrutinized by the media all year long. A strong start would alleviate some of the pressures surrounding these young men.
Georgia, led by senior quarterback Aaron Murray, should be able to keep up with Clemson's high-flying offense, and the Bulldogs' defense is always formidable.
It should be a great game. Unfortunately, one of the teams will likely not be in the Top 10 after Week 1.
Another game of interest to many fans features South Carolina and pass-rushing phenom Jadeveon Clowney, who is the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at the end of the year, as noted by ESPN.com. The Gamecocks will host North Carolina on Thursday to open the season.
LSU travels to AT&T Stadium to face TCU on Saturday night. For both teams, 2013 represents an opportunity to rebound from relatively disappointing seasons a year ago.
According to Stefan Stevenson of the Star-Telegram, Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson isn't telling the media which quarterback he'll start—Casey Pachall or Trevone Boykin. Pachall seems the likely choice, as he's recovered brilliantly after missing most of last season when he was suspended for suspicion of DUI.
