Premier League Week 2 Picks: Clubs That Will Earn Impressive Wins This Weekend

Patrick ClarkeJun 8, 2018

The 2013-14 Premier League season is in full swing as powerhouse clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea have already risen to the top of the league table thanks to convincing Week 1 victories.

But those performances are history, and Week 2 is already underway.

Here we'll take a closer look at three clubs set to earn three points in impressive fashion this weekend.

Everton

The Roberto Martinez era at Goodison Park got off to a solid start last weekend with a 2-2 draw at Norwich City. In Week 2, the Toffees will host West Brom in one of several matchups on Saturday.

West Brom is currently sitting at the bottom of the league table and coming off of a 1-0 loss to Southampton at home in the opener. The visitors outpossessed the Baggies and created the better scoring opportunities, ultimately winning via a 90th-minute penalty.

Meanwhile, Everton was unlucky to earn just a draw at Carrow Road. Martinez's squad outpossessed Norwich 67-33 and finished with seven shots on goal to only two for the Canaries.

With the home crowd behind it on Saturday, look for Everton, which finished sixth in the league table a season ago, to earn its first win of the 2013-14 campaign.

Manchester City

The Citizens are in store for another easy outing to begin their 2013-14 Premier League campaign as they get set to square off against Cardiff City in Week 2.

West Ham proved too tough for the Bluebirds in their opener, beating them 2-0 at Boleyn Ground. Cardiff City created some scoring opportunities, but not nearly as many as its opponents, who fired 18 shots, four of which fell on target.

City put 11 shots on goal in the rout of Newcastle in Week 1, so don't be surprised if the squad nets four more goals inside Cardiff City Stadium.

Whether it's Sergio Aguero, David Silva or Samir Nasri, Manuel Pellegrini's squad possesses a handful of lethal goalscorers who will have Cardiff City in for a long afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs will host Swansea City on Sunday in the other Sunday matchup this weekend. And you can expect Andre Villas-Boas' squad to pick up another three points in this showdown at White Hart Lane.

The Jacks were dismantled at home by Manchester United in their opener last weekend, losing 4-1 to the defending champions at Liberty Stadium. Meanwhile, Tottenham looked comfortable in an away win at Crystal Palace. Spurs controlled possession throughout and created far more scoring chances than their opponents.

With Roberto Soldado, who ranked fifth in La Liga with 24 goals last season, starting to figure out Villas-Boas' attack, look for Spurs to win at home in impressive fashion.
