Report: Kurt Busch Has Been Offered a Contract with Stewart-Haas Racing

Paul CarreauJun 3, 2018

According to Kenny Bruce of NASCAR.com, Kurt Busch has formally been offered a contract to drive for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014.

The news came out just hours after Busch scored a third-place finish in Sunday's Pure Michigan 400 at the Michigan International Speedway.

When asked about the report, Busch indicated that he has received offers from multiple teams and is currently weighing his options.

As reported by Marty Smith of ESPN.com, Busch said:

"

I've received offers from multiple teams. This isn't a decision I'm taking lightly. I'm looking at what teams have planned long term and want to be in a place where my opinion and input is valued.

"

Smith also reports that under the deal, Busch would receive primary sponsorship from Haas/CNC for the 2014 season.

If the Busch does agree to drive for Stewart-Haas Racing, they would become a four-car team after running just three cars in 2013.

Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick and Danica Patrick are all under contract to drive under the SHR banner next season.

Busch, who is currently racing under a one-year contract with Furniture Row Racing, has statistically had the best season in the team's history.

Busch has posted 11 top-10 finishes through 23 races this season. Prior to this year, the team had scored just 11 top 10s over its first eight years in existence. The 314 laps that Busch has led in 2013 are 268 more than the team had led in their history.

With three races remaining before the Chase begins, Busch currently sits in ninth-place in the standings and is looking to earn Furniture Row Racing their first ever berth into NASCAR's playoffs.
