Byron led 362 of the 500 laps at Martinsville to claim a much-needed first win of the season.
Byron won both stages and controlled the race during a few long green-flag stretches.
His Hendrick teammate, Larson, took ninth place to set himself up for a celebration next weekend at Homestead-Miami.
Larson needs to earn just nine points from the race to become the 2026 Cup Series champion.
The No. 5 car drive owns a sizable advantage over Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin.
Bell and Hamlin need to have perfect races next week at Homestead-Miami and have Larson end up with one of the worst finishes of his career.
There's a high likelihood that Larson could clinch the title prior to the end of the race due to the points attached to the top-10 finishing places in each of the two stages.
