Tampa Bay Rays Invite 20-Foot Python to Clubhouse; No Players Eaten During Visit
Ah, it seems the cast is hard at work filming the lesser-known Snakes in a Clubhouse movie.
In reality, this is just a chance cameo of a 20-foot python in the Tampa Bay Rays clubhouse thanks to a wacky manager who wanted a little bit of luck and some levity bestowed upon his team before Thursday's game against the Seattle Mariners.
Here are a couple of tweets from the team's official Twitter account:

OK, from just a glimpse, we can see that this particular python is huge. I would be scared that one of my smaller players would be eaten whole right before the game.
Hey, we have seen dumber baseball injuries.
With that, we give you this awesome tweet of Sam Fuld hoping he doesn't end up like Jon Voight in Anaconda. (Oh, um, spoiler alert.)
ESPN reminds fans that manager Joe Maddon has been known to liven up the locker room in the past with chance zoological cameos:
"This season alone, the Rays have had a magician, a merengue band and a DJ perform in the clubhouse.
Maddon also has arranged separate visits this season from a cockatoo and a pair of penguins.
"
I have never wanted to be a professional baseball player more than I do right now. Sure, the fame and fortune are nice, and craft services might even be a fantastic plus. But seriously, guys, penguins!
Still, I would have liked this whole story better had Samuel L. Jackson popped out and screamed at the team that he was tired of these "monkey-fighting snakes in this Monday-to-Friday clubhouse."
We will have to wait until later Thursday evening to find out if this python coup paid off for the skipper.
If the team fighting to hold on to its wild-card spot does get a win, we fully expect a petting zoo to show up on Friday.
