Inter vs. Valencia: Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and More

Tim DanielsJun 8, 2018

After being eliminated from title contention in the International Champions Cup, Inter Milan and Valencia are set to face off in what amounts to a high-profile preseason friendly. Both clubs want to see progress ahead of the new season.

Inter fell behind Chelsea just 13 minutes into their match in the opening round. They never fully recovered, as the Blues took complete control from there. It was a disappointing performance from a club trying to prepare for a bounce-back campaign.

Valencia were the only club to get a true home match in the tournament but weren't able to capitalize on that advantage as they fell to AC Milan. While the Che actually outplayed the Italian club for extended stretches, they couldn't find the consistent finishing touch they needed.

Preview

Giving up an early goal to Chelsea doomed Inter in their tournament opener. The Blues have a boatload of talent in the midfield. Trying to come from behind plays right into their hands, as they can control possession and the pace of the match.

It left the Nerazzurri with no choice but to push forward with hopes of finding a quick equalizer. Soon Chelsea added to their lead courtesy of Eden Hazard from the penalty spot, and Inter couldn't mount a serious rally in the second half.

They should find more space to operate against Valencia. Instead of being forced to play on their heels, Inter should be able to move forward with more regularity, creating more chances for Rodrigo Palacio and the rest of the attacking group to shine.

The match will likely have a distinct preseason feel as both sides work in a myriad of subs, but prior to the Chelsea match, Inter had illustrated solid depth early in the exhibitions. So even if the key players only play a half they should be in good shape.

Valencia didn't play poorly against AC Milan. The lack of goals despite the putting on some serious pressure throughout the match is definitely a concern, though. Right now, they can chalk it up to preseason rust, but they better shake it off soon.

While Paco Alcacer has a bright future, he's still very much in the developmental process. The onus in on Jonas to provide some stability on the attack, something he struggled to do before subbing out in the second half against Milan.

It won't be an easy task against an Inter back line that stepped up over the final hour against Chelsea. If they can carry that form over to this match, Valencia will find it tough to generate the type of chances they need to pick up the victory.

Both clubs have plenty of work left to do before starting the matches that actually count. But ultimately, Inter have a slight edge overall and should pull out the International Champions Cup win.

Prediction: Inter 2, Valencia 0
