Although the International Champions Cup is an exhibition tournament, the loaded field will make it an exciting even to watch.
The tournament takes place mostly in the United States with one match in Spain. In a little over a week, seven of the top clubs in Europe and one from the MLS will compete to prove they are among the best around.
Included in the field is Chelsea and Everton from England, Real Madrid and Valencia of Spain, Italian clubs Juventus, Milan and Internazionale, plus the Los Angeles Galaxy.
While the players are still not in regular-season form, the talent will prevail to provide fans with an exciting event. Here is a look at what to watch for in the upcoming tournament.
Teams to Watch
Real Madrid
With Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid have one of the top players in the entire world who is capable of scoring at any time. He is certain to put on a show for the American fans with his elite skill with the ball at all points of the pitch.
Of course, the Portuguese star is not the only player on this elite squad. Mesut Ozil and Karim Benzema are great at creating chances for their teammates, while Sergio Ramos anchors the defense well.
Although the La Liga club went trophy-less last season, you can expect some strong play in the upcoming year from this team.
Chelsea
Despite a third-place finish in the English Premier League last season, Chelsea continue to show that they are among the best clubs in Europe.
The squad followed up a Champions League title two years ago with a Europa League championship last season. With an improved roster full of players that will only get better, you can expect even more success next season.
Watch for young stars like Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku to continue to impress heading into the year.
Juventus
There are three Serie A clubs in this event, but Juventus are the defending champions after dominating the Italian league last season.
The club features two of the most recognizable players in the country between goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and midfielder Andrea Pirlo. While both are getting up there in age, either one could be considered among the best in the world at their positions.
Juventus will be incredibly difficult to score against and will be a part of some tough defensive battles in this tournament.
Los Angeles Galaxy
Although the Major League Soccer club is overmatched from a talent perspective, do not count out the Los Angeles Galaxy in this tournament.
While it is unknown if the team will have a full roster of players, the likes of Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez can help the squad stick with any opponent in the world.
The Galaxy have won the last two MLS Cups and are the best the American league has to offer. As the host team, they have the opportunity to turn some heads with a strong performance in this one.
