Braxton Miller, Devin Gardner Headline Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch List

Randy ChambersJun 2, 2018

With Big Ten Media Days set to kick off on Wednesday, the conference's preseason watch list has been released on the Big Ten website.

The list, which is put together by a media panel, includes five college football players from the Legends Division and Leaders Division.

Ohio State and Michigan fans, get ready to have your schools represented quite nicely. Meanwhile, other Big Ten programs will hope to use this list as motivation for the upcoming season.

Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner and Ohio State's Braxton Miller are the most well-known players on the list. Miller is widely considered a Heisman candidate and the best player in the Big Ten. He was also the only unanimous selection for this watch list.

However, there will be even more pressure on Miller to succeed with the recent suspension of running back Carlos Hyde and arrest of cornerback Bradley Roby, as reported by the Associated Press (via the Huffington Post). Depending on the outcome of both incidents, Miller could be asked to carry Ohio State on his back.

Gardner is expected to keep Michigan afloat and has high expectations after showing flashes of brilliance last year. He has the same dual-threat ability as former Michigan great Denard Robinson, but he can also throw a pretty football. Michigan fans are hoping for big results from the first-year starter.

Combined, Michigan and Ohio State have five of the 10 selected players. Penn State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Michigan State are the only other schools to have a player represented.

The complete watch list can be viewed below.
