Future First Round Sleepers Of The BIG 12

Patrick TvrdyMay 8, 2009

Every year the BIG 12 unloads and reloads NFL caliber talent. 2009 is no exception with Jason Smith, Michael Crabtree, Jeremy Maclin, Ziggy Hood, and Brain Orakpo all worthy first round picks in this years draft. We all know Bradford, McCoy, Suh, and Bryant are guaranteed first rounders but what about the guys people really don't know? These are 5 of my favorite first round sleeper prospects for next years 2010 NFL draft.

5.) Roy Helu Jr. RB Nebraska (Height: 6-0 Weight: 221 lbs.)

Roy is a beast among men. Last year in his sophomore campaign he totaled 125 attempts for 803 yards rushing.

Not much to right home about but in 2009 expect 20 carries a game and twenty more lbs. of muscle. Roy runs a 4.4 40 yard dash and statistically is bigger and faster than Georgia’s RB Moreno. He has the mold of a perfect NFL style RB.

4.) Robert Griffin QB Baylor (Height: 6-3 Weight: 200 lbs.)

Robert is your prototype Steve McNair mold QB. He makes virtually no mistakes with 15 TD's passing and only 3 interceptions.

He has 173 rushes for 843 yards in addition to his great passing stats. One more year and he is primed to be a first rounder, in fact right now he would be better than seven starting QB's in the NFL.

3.)Dezmon Briscoe WR Kansas (Height: 6-3 Weight: 205 lbs.)

Dezmon’s numbers last year were stupid as hell. He had 92 receptions 1407 yards receiving and 15 TD’s.

These numbers are better all around than Jeremy Maclin or Michael Crabtree. Against OU alone he put up 269 yards receiving.

He should be higher on this list but let’s be real, he is KU’s only true threat. Meier is a joke…..

2.) Kendall Hunter RB Oklahoma St. (Height: 5-8 Weight: 204 lbs.)

241 attempts and 1,555 yards rushing in 2009 is ton to carry. The workload was a lot for this junior but in the NFL they want durability. In his best game last year he had 168 yards rushing on Texas in TX. It was quite the feat considering the stage and lack of carries. Maybe if he would have had 25 carries that game they would of won…….

1.) DeMarco Murray RB Oklahoma (Height: 6-1 Weight: 206 lbs.)

DeMarco had 18 TD and did not play in two games. His numbers are plain filthy and that is coming from a Husker fan.

He is a difference maker Ala Reggie Bush. I guarantee you this guy is going to get Adrian P. Viking money.

He is versatile but at the same time he is the true difference between a win against Florida or a loss. Watch for 1500 yard and 20 plus TD’s from this potential Heisman candidate.
