World Football Instagram Highlights of the Week
In this constantly evolving world, one must keep up with the newest technologies or risk being left behind.
This is no truer anywhere than in social media, where a new fad springs up daily and sites that were once worldwide sensations suddenly fold.
One relatively new sensation (at least for some of us) is Instagram, an application in which users can share photos with their friends and followers.
This craze has spread to world football, as the players and officials have logged on in hopes of connecting with their fans.
Here is a compilation of world football's most interesting Instagram photos of the week.
Portuguese in Transit
1 of 5Cristiano Ronaldo captured this photo of the Portuguese national team on their travels.
The picture came between their 1-0 victories at home to Russia and in Geneva against Croatia.
The Portuguese must be happy with their recent form, but it looks like they're also enjoying themselves while in-between.
Is this a team coming together?
Neymar Introduced to the Camp Nou
2 of 5Despite being one of the most sought-after transfer targets entering the summer, Neymar did not have to wait long to find out his new club.
The young Brazilian star was sold by Santos to Barcelona in early June, allowing him to get acquainted with the club before international duty with Brazil.
Here he is standing in an empty Camp Nou, striking the sort of pose that he will hope he can repeat again and again after scoring for the Blaugrana.
USA Pays Tribute to Seattle
3 of 5The United States men's national team hadn't hosted a World Cup qualifier in Seattle since the mid-70s, but the fans in the northwest city weren't too bothered.
The Seattle crowd were raucous throughout their nation's 2-0 victory over Panama Tuesday, providing the sort of atmosphere that makes one wonder why it's been so long since the city has hosted a qualifier.
The "We are going to Brazil" chant was priceless, as the crowd lived up to the "12th man" title they've earned in other sports.
Here, the US Soccer Instagram account thanks the fans for their support throughout the match.
Timo with the Treble
4 of 5Bayern Munich's season could not have gone better, as the German club won a historic treble of trophies.
Here, Ukrainian Anatoliy Tymoshchuk revels in the glory, holding all three trophies in his arms.
What's strange, though, is that he is holding the trophies as if he is preparing to carry them somewhere, with one tucked under his arm and the others held securely.
As Timo is set to leave Bayern to return to Zenit St. Petersburg, the German giants might want to check that he returned those cups to their cabinet.
Tottenham on Holiday
5 of 5What is easily the best photo comes from Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele.
The photo comes from Tottenham's trip to the Bahamas, with the Belgian enjoying some time with his teammates, including countryman Jan Vertonghen and left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto.
Right in the middle of the picture, though, is the stunning physique of manager Andre Villas-Boas.
It's a bit early to say, but the world might not be ready for a shirtless AVB.
Thanks for this gem, Dembele.
