Power Ranking the Top 15 College Football Logos

0 of 15

There are many different types of logos found on the helmets of college football teams. Some have a classic look to them, while others are modern.

Either way, some logos are much better than others.

There is no easy way to pick the best logos in college football, as it is all a matter of opinion. Some, however, do stand out or have historical significance over others.

Here are the top 15 team logos in college football.

No. 15 Clemson Tigers

1 of 15

The Clemson Tigers logo is a Tiger paw, but it has a little bit of design to it. The combination of orange and white with the choppy edges goes perfect.

While it is not one of the more popular college football logos, it is simple and has a little bit of style to it.

The Tiger faithful certainly have an affection for it.

No. 14 Missouri Tigers

2 of 15

The Missouri Tigers logo has three distinct colors that stand out, and the combination goes together perfectly.

This is one of the few logos in college football that actually has an animal on it, as the Tiger is perfectly displayed.

The eyes are what stand out. They are almost squinting, but they appear very intimidating in the process.

No. 13 Oklahoma State Cowboys

3 of 15

The Oklahoma State logo appears to be a little more modern than some of others on the list, and that makes it stand out just a little bit.

The bigger "S" in the middle adds to the distinction, as the two vowels on either side are a little smaller with a line under the "O" and above the "U."

Those unique characteristics allow the Cowboys to crack the top 15.

No. 12 South Carolina Gamecocks

4 of 15

There is a lot going on with the South Carolina logo, as the rooster in the middle seems to be in a bit of a frenzy.

The white on the tail gives it some flavor, and the claws make it look like it is going to rip somebody to shreds. The "C" surrounding it has a nice black color in the middle as well, with red outlining it.

No question that this is as intimidating as a a rooster can get.

No. 11 Stanford Cardinal

5 of 15

The Stanford logo with the tree running through the middle of the "S" might be a little more appealing than just the plain "S," but this is the logo that is worn on the helmet of the Cardinal.

What stands out here is the outline. There is a red color outlining the entire letter. On the inside of the red is a white line, and inside that white outline, the entire letter is in red.

The plain and simple approach certainly works very well here.

No. 10 Penn State Nittany Lions

6 of 15

The Penn State Nittany Lion almost looks a little scared on the logo, but that does not take anything away from it.

The combination of dark blue and white is excellent here.

Most other teams have an animal with its mouth open to try and intimidate. That is not the case here, and it actually works quite well.

No. 9 Cincinnati Bearcats

7 of 15

The "C-Paw" representing the University of Cincinnati is one of the most unique in all of college football.

It features a normal-looking letter "C" with paws coming from the top. The "C" gets a little thinner toward the end to give it a more distinct look.

There is also a red line underneath to complete the colors of the Bearcats

No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes

8 of 15

This is the point of the list when the logos really start to get good.

The Buckeyes logo has a few characteristics that help distinguish it. The "O" and "S" are bigger than the rest of the letters in the name and clearly stand out.

There is an excellent combination of colors here. The gray outlining the inside and outside of the logo is an excellent feature. There is also white outline inside the gray, and the scarlet-colored "O" on the inside caps it off.

The black lettering spelling out "Ohio State" completes this logo.

No. 7 Michigan State Spartans

9 of 15

The Michigan State logo is widely considered to be one of the best in all of college football. The design and configuration of the Spartan is truly something unique.

The two main colors are the green and white.

Even though it is all one logo, it seems to look like separate pieces, which is certainly the defining characteristic of this helmet.

No. 6 Oregon Ducks

10 of 15

Oregon has been known for quite some time for its flashy uniforms and interesting helmets.

There are a number of different types of "O's" that have been used through the years, but this is the logo of the school.

The two green and yellow colors are an excellent combination, and while the "O" is plain, it gets the job done.

No. 5 Michigan Wolverines

11 of 15

The Michigan logo is not found on its football helmet, but that does not mean it is not an excellent look for the university.

"Michigan" running through the middle of the logo is very unique and similar to what Ohio State has going on.

The entire logo, as well as the "M," is outlined in maize, and the lettering of the word "Michigan" is in yellow, as is the outline around the word.

The rest is in blue, and it is perfect.

No. 4 LSU Tigers

12 of 15

The combination of the tiger head on top of the "LSU" logo makes this one of the best logos in college football.

The Tiger looks intimidating, but not nearly as mean as the one from Missouri. It is overlapping the "LSU" and has a nice color combination throughout.

The showing of the teeth also allows it to crack the top five.

No. 3 UCLA Bruins

13 of 15

The UCLA logo might not be as recognizable as a lot of others on the list, but it is one of the best in college football.

The light blue and yellow combination goes together perfectly, and there is a shadow behind the letters that make it that much better.

Throw in the fact that the light black outline around the entire logo is something that is hard to find anywhere else. Just inside the black line is a yellow outline, and then there's light blue throughout.

The word "Bruins" is spelled out in yellow to top things off.

No. 2 Miami Hurricanes

14 of 15

The logo of the Miami Hurricanes is plain, but it's downright awesome at the same time.

It is divided equally in half between orange and green.

There is nothing really out or the ordinary about it, but representing the "U" is something that has been going on for quite some time in Miami.

This logo is very hard to top.

No. 1 Texas Longhorns

15 of 15

Topping the list is the most recognized logo in college football. That logo belongs to the Texas Longhorns.

It is an all-white longhorn that is perfectly centered with an orange background. The colors could also be reversed to feature an orange longhorn with an all-white background.

Either way, this logo is the best in all of college football.
