Neymar Transfer Rumours: Move to Bayern Munich Would Be Ideal for Star Forward

Richard LangfordJun 8, 2018

Rumors of Neymar's transfer away from Santos are nothing new. However, the recent rumble of him being a lock for Bayern Munich brings a new wrinkle to the rumor party.

On his personal blog, former Santos official Vicente Cascione said, with surprising certainty, that Neymar is about to be joining the Bundesliga instead of the EPL or La Liga.

Well, at least that's what Goal.com's Stefan Coerts, via Yahoo, tells me what he said when he provided the translation:

"

I have this information first hand. Neymar has signed for Bayern Munich. It's already a done deal.

I am not speculating here. This information is irrefutable. From August this year on, the player will be part of Bayern's squad.

So his next destination will not be Spain, like many expected. He's not going to Barcelona or Real Madrid. He will go to Germany.

"

The length to which Cascione goes to convey that this is done deal makes it hard to doubt. It would be foolish for him to stick his neck out on a comment like this if he didn't know it to be true beyond a shadow of a doubt. If it didn't play out like he said, his credibility would be irrevocably tarnished.

However, Bayern Munich sure was quick to say this isn't the case.

LatinosPost.com passed along a quote from Bayern Munich spokesman Markus Horwick on Cascione's claim: "This is complete nonsense. There's no truth in this claim."

So, we add a strongly worded denial to this rumor and essentially wind up back at square one.

Which is where Neymar's past comments have said we should be the whole time. As the Latinos Post also points out, Neymar has said he would remain with Santos until the end of his contract, which runs through the 2014 World Cup.

While I can't claim to offer any inside information of my own to his future home, what I do know is that if Bayern Munich isn't in on trying to land Neymar, they should be. It would be a nice fit for both.

The 21-year-old Brazilian has a long and dominant future ahead of him. Among other things, Neymar has dumped in 12 goals in 17 matches in the Paulista State Championship.

This is a player with a dynamic natural ability to create plays and goals, and he can do it from anywhere on the field. He can play striker, winger or even an attacking midfielder.

Of course, he wouldn't have to worry about the midfield much with Bayern as they recently acquired Mario Goetze. This one-two punch would give the already talented Bayern squad an unstoppable offensive connection.

He also has made it know that he wouldn't be adverse to a transfer to Bayern. The Latinos Post passed along this Neymar quote from earlier in the year:

"

Playing for Bayern is something I could imagine doing. I dreamed to play in Europe since I was a child, but it is important I feel good and adapt with the rest of the team. [The transfer] doesn't have to be Spain necessarily.

"

This move would allow Neymar to play at an elite level and be a regular fixture in the Champions League, and he would be able to do so while quickly becoming the heart of that Bayern team.

This would give him a chance to be a leader on what is potentially the world's best team. He could rack up stats and hardware while pushing his star into a stratosphere that very few could touch.

There isn't much to dislike about that.
