Liverpool 4 Arsenal 4: The Gr8test Game Since Last Tuesday Night

Liverpool 4 - Arsenal 4 (Premier League, April 21, 2009) Liverpool looked threatening early doors against an Arsenal side decked out in their replica ‘89 shirts, Lukasz Fabianski saved well from Torres just before the 20 minute mark. 

Ten minutes before the break Mascherano paid a heavy price for being caught in possession, Nasri played in Fabregas who squared the ball for Andrei Arshavin to finish off the bar to put the Gunners into the lead.

Liverpool came storming out the blocks in the second half, Fernando Torres headed in the equaliser on 48 from a Kuyt cross after Sagna failed to clear and the turnaround was completed on 55 when another ball from Kuyt on the right was headed over the line by a brave diving header from Yossi Benayoun.

Ten minutes later it was 2-2, Andrei Arshavin nicked the ball in front of Arbeloa and the Russian schemer fired a cracker into the far corner. Three minutes later and Arsenal took the lead, Aurelio the defender at fault this time, presenting Arshavin with an easy chance to complete his hat-trick.

Two minutes later it was 3-3, Fernando Torres turning Silvestre to level the game yet again. An incredible match still had two late goals to lend it legendary status, first Arshavin bagged his fourth after good work by Walcott only for Liverpool to equalise in injury-time with a close-range effort from Benayoun.

Real Madrid 3 - Getafe 2 (La Liga, April 21, 2009) Robert Soldado stunned the Bernabeu, heading Getafe into a 10th minute lead. On the stroke of half-time Gonzalo Higuain rounded the keeper and tapped the ball into the net to level it up at 1-1.

The game came to life with six minutes to go, Juan Albin fired Getafe into the lead again only for Guti to equalise with a terrific left-footed free-kick. From the kick-off, Getafe won a penalty Pepe guilty of a foul Casquero and then a crazy assault which saw him sent off. Casquero subsequently took a horrible penalty easily saved by Casillas and Gonzalo Higuain secured an incredible win with another excellent strike.

Grenoble 0 - Rennes 1 (Coupe De france, April 21, 2009)mMoussa Sow headed Rennes into the lead from close range in the 20th minute.

Sheffield Wednesday 2 - Southampton 0 (Championship, April 18, 2009) On-loan striker Luke Varney grabbed a goal in each half as the Owls beat the Saints, who remain deep in trouble.

Kawasaki Frontale 2 - Central Coast Mariners 1 (Asian Champions League, April 21, 2009) Matt Simon netted his second goal of the campaign midway through the second half after Juninho had put the Japanese hosts ahead just seconds into the second half. A Carlos Renatinho header sealed the points for the Kawasaki with nine minutes remaining.
