NFL Draft Order 2013: Updated Outlook for All 7 Rounds
The 2013 NFL draft landscape has had some slight changes in recent weeks, and most have occurred closer to the back end of the seven rounds.
A new regime in Kansas City has a golden opportunity with the No. 1 overall pick as head coach Andy Reid looks to immediately turn around the struggling-but-talented Chiefs.
As reigning NFC champions, it almost isn't fair to other putrid franchises that the San Francisco 49ers are stocked with so many selections in this deep class. However, GM Trent Baalke has parted ways with several of them to add depth.
Other relatively high-profile moves have netted teams picks, so let's look at the latest draft order and analyze each step throughout the captivating three days in late April.
Round 1
1 of 7Analysis
The first round should see just about every team improve, with so many solid players and depth at nearly every position.
An exception to that trend is at quarterback, where former West Virginia star Geno Smith is expected to be the first signal-caller off the board.
Now that the Raiders have traded for Matt Flynn, the Cardinals have traded for Carson Palmer and the Bills have acquired Kevin Kolb as a free agent, it remains extremely unclear as to where a QB might go in the first 32 picks. A trade near the end of Round 1 may ultimately happen.
Kansas City holds the No. 1 pick and will likely go with Texas A&M left tackle Luke Joeckel despite the presence of Branden Albert. Central Michigan's Eric Fisher and Oklahoma LT Lane Johnson provide three franchise-caliber tackles that should all go early.
Also look for versatile defensive playmakers in Dion Jordan, Ezekiel Ansah, Barkevious Mingo and Jarvis Jones to all go in the first half of this round.

Round 2
2 of 7Analysis
The 49ers have some flexibility here with the No. 31 and No. 34 overall picks. Their needs include safety and the defensive line, and luckily there is plenty of talent to be selected. However, don't be surprised if Jim Harbaugh brings in TE Zach Ertz, who attended Stanford, where Harbaugh last coached.
A previous trade involving Carson Palmer nets the Bengals with an early second-round pick and another selection at No. 53. Cincinnati is a young, exciting team that threatens to shift the balance of power in the AFC North. It will continue to stockpile young assets.
Due to the Bountygate scandal, the New Orleans Saints miss out on a valuable second-round pick. The Cleveland Browns don't have one either due to the selection of WR Josh Gordon in last year's supplemental draft.
Several instant starters should be swept up at this stage, so it's worth paying attention to the action despite the inevitable letdown.

Round 3
3 of 7Analysis
South Carolina superstar running back Marcus Lattimore shouldn't fall further than the third round as he continues to miraculously battle back from a second major knee injury.
The Miami Dolphins have addressed nearly every need imaginable in free agency and have two picks here.
Assuming those new additions gel together well, it will allow Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland to take risks and acquire young talent with high upside to slowly develop.
This is also the introduction of compensatory picks to the 2013 draft, and the ones in this round specifically could be valuable for the retooling Chiefs and Titans. The majority of the top quarterbacks should also start coming off the board in Round 3.

Round 4
4 of 7Analysis
There isn't much out of the ordinary in Round 4, as teams will be searching for diamonds in the rough or simply players that will make it to the final round of cuts in the preseason.
One notable prospect that should go somewhere in Round 4 is former LSU corner Tyrann Mathieu. The talented defensive back was dismissed from the Tigers after substance abuse led to a failed drug test.
The only trade here involves the Minnesota Vikings obtaining an early selection from the Detroit Lions. General manager Rick Spielman continues to do a wonderful job in building one of the most promising, youthful cores in the entire league.

Round 5
5 of 7Analysis
Arkansas-Pine Bluff offensive tackle Terron Armstead was a massive storyline at the NFL Scouting Combine. He ran a 4.71 in the 40-yard dash, benched 225 pounds 31 times and recorded a 34.5" vertical leap.
That should allow the 6'5" supreme athlete to go early in Round 5, but he is not the only intriguing prospect; look for productive college players from smaller schools to get an increased amount of looks here in addition to Armstead.
Running backs are likely to be a focal point here, and Florida's Mike Gillislee and Oregon's Kenjon Barner should both come off the board as situational rookie weapons.

Round 6
6 of 7Analysis
It's hard to dig for any unique storylines in this stretch, but there are some notable swaps here.
The Niners are involved again, thanks to their trade for former Browns QB Colt McCoy and Baltimore Ravens stud receiver Anquan Boldin. Oakland picks up an extra pick courtesy of the aforementioned Carson Palmer move.
Cannon-legged Florida State kicker Dustin Hopkins should warrant consideration from teams strapped at the position. With as much parity that exists in the NFL, many games come down to a kick.
Otherwise, look for second-tier prospects from power conferences to dominate draft boards, with some of them panning out as surprisingly productive players that make final NFL rosters.

Round 7
7 of 7Analysis
A slew of compensatory picks make this a longer round, and even most die-hard fans will be tuned out at this point. The possible exception will come with the very last pick, where Mr. Irrelevant will be revealed.
Someone will probably take a flier on Colby Cameron of Louisiana Tech, who is considered limited in his physical tools but is a cerebral QB that operated a high-octane offense in college.
With that, the action in Radio City Music Hall wraps up, and the focus shifts to dissecting what should be an extremely memorable 2013 NFL draft.
