Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Red Devils Should Pass on Marco Verratti
Manchester United need to forget about their reported desire to land PSG's Marco Verratti.
Sure, the 20-year-old midfielder is a promising talent, but the Red Devils have a slimming chance of landing him and he is not worth the resources needed to make this deal happen.
The club's interest in the player has been making the rumor rounds. On Tuesday, The Guardian's Paul Doyle reported that the Red Devils are "checking out" Verratti.

However, with interest in Verratti apparently picking up steam—AC Milan and Juventus are both mentioned as having interest as well—his agent cooled that talk off.
Charles Perrin of the Express quoted Verratti's agent, who said the attention his client has been receiving is "concrete," but that a move this summer should not be expected.
We all know the drill with agents, right? It is their job to maximize their clients' earning potential, not provide the media with the truth.
That said, there is little to gain for his client by saying a move this summer is not likely. With that, it is safe to assume these comments have some semblance of truth.
The Red Devils can now take this information and move on to their next transfer target—or they can crank up their pursuit of Verratti. After all, for the right price, any move is possible.
The Red Devils may be tempted to continue their pursuit. Verratti is a talented defensive midfielder. He racks up tackles and interceptions. He is physical and aggressive—sometimes too aggressive, as he can make some poor decisions on tackles.
Regardless, he is a deep-lying playmaker who would strengthen the Red Devils' defense for years to come. Still, at this point, Manchester United would probably have to overpay.
They would be wise to put their interest on Verratti on hold and switch their current efforts to a more realistic target.
