Real Madrid vs. Barcelona: Live Stream, Start Time, TV Schedule and More

Tim DanielsJun 5, 2018

The second El Clasico match of the week will feature a Barcelona squad desperate for some revenge after Real Madrid emerged from Camp Nou with a victory and a spot in the Copa del Rey final. The back-to-back rivalry games should make for a terrific atmosphere.

Saturday's match marks a return to La Liga play. Barcelona currently hold a 16-point edge over third-place Madrid in the league, with Atletico Madrid (12 points back) serving as a buffer. Barca wants score an instant return victory to end any slim hopes the Blancos have of a massive comeback.

Madrid has a Champions League match against Manchester United coming up on Tuesday while Barcelona waits another week before their second leg with AC Milan. So that could play a role in the outcome of the clash, as well.

Regardless of the surrounding circumstances, every battle between Real Madrid and Barcelona carries a high level of intrigue. Here's a look at the key information for the latest El Clasico, followed by players to watch and a prediction.

Where: Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain

When: Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m. ET

Real Madrid Player to Watch: Raphael Varane

Varane has made quite the impact by scoring in each of his first two El Clasico appearances. The 19-year-old defender is quickly emerging as one of the most promising young players in La Liga, and big-game experience should definitely help his development.

What's made him stand out so early in his career is his well-rounded ability. He looks just as comfortable joining the attack as he does defending one-on-one. He hasn't looked overmatched despite playing in a top league before his 20th birthday.

It's unclear what role he will play in Saturday's match as the Blancos prepare for the Champions League, but given his strong run of form, it would be tough to leave him out completely. When a player is going well, managers usually like to keep the momentum alive.

Varane still a player getting used to the expectations of playing for a club like Madrid, so there will be some bumps along the way. But it's hard not to like what the future has in store for him.

Barcelona Player to Watch: Jordi Alba

Speaking of young defenders with plenty of upside, Alba continues to impress at left back for Barca. The Spain international broke out during Euro 2012, playing a major role in the nation's run, and carried that over to club play.

Just like Varane, he brings an added dimension to the Barca attack by moving forward and using his speed to put extra pressure on the opposing defense. It also helps that it seems like he can run forever, so he rarely gets caught out of position.

The Blaugrana's best option is pushing the pace. Madrid might not be totally into the match mentally after their big midweek victory and the upcoming match with Manchester United, so Barca should attempt to take control from the outset before their chief rival settles in.

That means a lot of Alba charging up the left side and throwing in crosses with hopes of catching the Blancos' back line out of position. The more involved he is, the better the club's chances.

Matchup to Watch: Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Lionel Messi

No other matchup warrants consideration when these two clubs meet. Ronaldo and Messi are both at the peak of their powers and they are pushing each other to new heights every year. So when they are on the same pitch, it's must-see television.

Ronaldo scored twice in the Copa del Rey triumph. It's the second time this season he found the net more than once against Barca, previously doing it in the first La Liga meeting. Madrid will need a similar outing from him on Saturday.

As for Messi, he comes off an extremely rare match where he failed to make a serious impact. He's expected to do great things every single time out, so when he has an off performance, it's surprising. He should be able to get right back on track in the rematch.
