Brooklyn Nets' PR Department Sends out Ridiculous Tweet
Joe Johnson shot the Brooklyn Nets to their 32nd win of the season, hitting a game-tying three-pointer at the end of regulation and the game-winning jump shot at the end of the first overtime period.
Not only was it a win over a fellow Eastern Conference playoff team, but it was the fifth overtime win for the Nets this season and their 11th OT win in a row overall.
Even more interesting, the Nets' public relations Twitter account pointed out something that may strike you as surprising.
"#Nets now 32-0 when outscoring opponent this season
— Nets PR Dept. (@Nets_PR) February 20, 2013"
There you have it. Brooklyn has won every game this season in which they scored more points than the other team.
Shocker.
To be fair, it seems like this had to be a tongue-and-cheek tweet. I can't imagine somebody in the Nets front office being dumb enough to throw a thought like that out there in complete seriousness. Even still, part of me wants to believe that it's real.
Real or not, the reactions that people had to the tweet was as priceless as the original notion itself.
"Don't see this streaking ending anytime soon --> RT @nets_pr: #Nets now 32-0 when outscoring opponent this season

"Incredible PR. No spin needed. Just facts. “@nets_pr: #Nets now 32-0 when outscoring opponent this season”
— Pete Kenworthy (@petekenworthy) February 20, 2013"
"Wow, what a stat! Lol I wonder what they are when NOT outscoring them. “@nets_pr: #Nets now 32-0 when outscoring opponent this season”
— SYKE (@SykeAtNight) February 20, 2013"
"@kriskoivisto @nets_pr I didn't know John Madden got a gig in the #NBA

Keep tweeting, Nets PR department. Give us the joy of thinking that people like this really do exist in NBA front offices.
