Power Ranking Every SEC Team's 2013 Recruiting Class

Edwin WeathersbyJun 8, 2018

What a day it's been around the country and what a day it's been especially in the SEC. This conference isn't going anywhere, so for those who hate the SEC, your hate is only going to skyrocket after today.

About six or seven of the top classes in the SEC for this 2013 recruiting class are also among the elite national classes in the country. If you believe the rich get richer, then today the talent-rich SEC got its dividend checks in the mail. The caliber of play in around this league is already remarkable, and based on how many teams in the SEC fared today on national signing day, nothing's changing anytime soon.

This is list is going to be straightforward and coming right at you. We're power ranking the SEC recruiting classes for 2013—as things stand right now.

14. Kentucky

1 of 14

Total commitments: 22

Kentucky may have the bottom barrel class in the SEC, but this group is sill within the top 40, per ESPNU. Mark Stoops worked and worked for DE Jason Hatcher, finally winning him over late last night.

JUCO prospects Za'Darius Smith, a DE and WR Javess Blue are likely instant impact guys. DE Alvonte Bell, RB JoJo Kemp and ATH Ryan Timmons will be memorable signees from this class.

The Wildcats are a program that may be a darkhorse to have an Ole Miss-type of recruiting year next cycle.

13. Missouri

2 of 14

Total commitments: 20

Gary Pinkel's 2012 class was easily more celebrated, but his 2013 group is nothing to sneeze at. DT Josh Augusta is a 6'4", 275-pounder that great athleticism in the trenches and could be the next Sheldon Richardson for Mizzou.

ATH Chase Abbington is 6'4", 210 pounds and very versatile. Abbington can play WR, S, RB or OLB and should be a crowning jewel for the Tigers' 2013 class.

Look for Pinkel and his staff to maximize this group's production with good coaching and development.

12. Tennessee

3 of 14

Total commitments: 22

Rocky Top suffered heartbreak this morning when stud S Vonn Bell announced for Ohio State on ESPN. Butch Jones still likes his group and this class is led by WR Marquez North.

QB Riley Ferguson could contend for early snaps and dual threat signal caller Josh Dobbs is also going to factor into the offense. OLB Corey Vereen is a stout 6'2", 230-pounder that will be grow into a defensive standout in Knoxville.

Jones pulled off a good class for such a short amount of time to recruit for the Vols.

11. Arkansas

4 of 14

Total commitments: 24

If they can get Alex Collins' signed NLI, Arkansas will have put together a class that they surely will be stoked about. TE Hunter Henry is one of the best at his position and should develop into an all-around seam player.

QB Austin Allen fits what Bret Bielema wants out of a field general. However the biggest surprise has to be the Hogs landing OL Denver Kirkland, who committed this morning on ESPN. Kirkland should form a good tandem with OG Reeve Koehler.

10. Mississippi State

5 of 14

Total commitments: 22

Dan Mullen breathed a sigh of relief when he got word that big time DE Chris Jones was sticking with his pledge to be a Bulldog.

Jones easily is the headliner of Mullen's 2013 class, but there are other players that will showcase their talents too.

JUCO WR Jeremy Chappelle has great size at 6'2" and 212 pounds to compete in the SEC. QB Cord Sandberg's dual threat skill set fits perfectly in Mullen's offensive attack, WR Fred Ross Jr. has a ton of potential and ATH Ashton Shumpert is a wild card.

9. South Carolina

6 of 14

Total commitments: 22

Columbia has to be excited about the players they've landed in this recruiting cycle. The OL class that South Carolina is bringing in is one of the best in country.

RB David Williams is a good all-around threat and will team with QB Connor Mitch to form a great backfield one day. On the defensive side, stud defenders like DT Kelsey Griffin and Larenz Bryant will be starters on a future talented Gamecock defensive unit soon enough.

8. Vanderbilt

7 of 14

Total commitments: 26

I slot Vandy's haul here, as this class is pretty good when you look at. WR Jordan Cunningham picked the Commodores this morning on ESPN and immediately became the headliner of the class.

WR DeAndre Woods, WR Carlos Burse and JUCO TE Brandon Vandenburg will open up some things for Cunningham in the middle and QB's Johnathon McCrary and Chad Kanoff will fight over who'll be the one throwing to them all.

DT Jay Woods is the top defensive commit and leads a defensive class that also features CB Tre' Bell and OLB Oren Burks.

7. Georgia

8 of 14

Total commitments: 32

Athens will welcome 32 new Bulldogs officially today and Mark Richt's class could finish in the top 10 overall rankings when it's said and done.

Recruits like CB Shaq Wiggins, QB Brice Ramsey, S Tray Matthews, OG Branon Kublanow, ATH Tramel Terry and 6'5", 215-pound JUCO WR Jonathon Rumph are just the tip of the iceberg.

Another great class for Georgia.

6. LSU

9 of 14

Total commitments: 27

Les Miles has some of the best people skills of any head coach in America and his personality is a hit on the recruiting trail. The Tigers did a good job of filling their needs while also just gobbling up available talent.

CB Jeryl Brazil, QB Hayden Rettig, OT Ethan Pocic, ATH/OLB Kendell Beckwith and DT's Greg Gilmore and Maquedius Bain lead the way for Miles this year.

Landing DE Tashawn Bower (ESPNU) today was a nice NSD surprise.

5. Auburn

10 of 14

Total commitments: 24

Auburn may have finished stronger than what people expecting about a month or so ago. DE Carl Lawson stuck with his pledge and DT Montravius Adams announced he was coming to the Plains on ESPN.

DE Elijah Daniels flipped to the Tigers from upstart Ole Miss (ESPNU) and WRs Tony Stevens and Dominic Walker should fit well in Gus Malzahn's offense.

Malzahn will also bring in two QBs with JUCO dual threat guy Nick Marshall and pocket passing Jeremy Johnson. Marshall will probably challenge Kiehl Frazier right away.

4. Texas A&M

11 of 14

Total commitments: 34 (per ESPNU)

The Aggies have 34 prospects committed to them, but I'm not sure if they will receive 34 total NLI's. But anyway you slice it, their class is loaded.

WR Ricky Seals-Jones, DT Justin Manning, QB Kohl Stewart, S Kameron Miles, WR Sebastian LaRue, OG Joas Aguilar and CB Noel Ellis all among the top players in the Aggies' class.

WR/TE Derrick Griffin is committed, but may or may not sign with Texas A&M due to academic concerns. This class should help be the foundation of a team that competes for an SEC West title in a few years.

3. Ole Miss

12 of 14

Total commitments: 28

Some will list Ole Miss at No. 1 in the SEC and maybe even the country, but I list the Rebels here. I have nothing against their class and they clearly won the day today.

DE Robert Nkemdiche made things official early this morning on ESPN and Laremy Tunsil and Tony Conner followed suit shortly after. OT Austin Golson also yelled Hotty Totty today too (ESPNU).

Add them to big gets like WR Laquon Treadwell, JUCO DT Lavon Hooks and RBs Mark Dodson, Kailo Moore and Jordan Wilkins and it's easy to see why people are all smiles in Oxford.

2. Florida

13 of 14

Total commitments: 28

DT Jaynard Bostwick was a late addition to the Gators' class (ESPNU) and this group could be the best in the country. CB Vernon Hargreaves is the headliner of a class that Will Muschamp has to be downright giddy about.

With talents like RB Kelvin Taylor, DT Caleb Brantley, S Keanu Neal, WR Demarcus Robinson, LB Daniel McMillan, getting Tyler Moore in as a Nebraska transfer on the OL and QB Max Staver, this class unbelievable.

Tip of the cap the Muschamp and Co.

1. Alabama

14 of 14

Total commitments: 27

Alvin Kamara committed to 'Bama on ESPN this afternoon and that surged this class to the spot both in the SEC and likely nationally. 247Sports also reports DT A'Shawn Robinson is also rolling with the Tide.

This is another fantastic recruiting class for Nick Saban and assures that the ridiculous talent level in Tuscaloosa will continue for years to come.

QB Cooper Bateman, LB Rueben Foster, RB's Derrick Henry, Altee Tenpenny and Tyren Jones will team up with other commits like WR Robert Foster, OG Grant Hill, CB Maurice Smith, DT Dee Liner and TE OJ Howard to arrive as the No. 1 incoming group of prospects in the SEC and America.

Nick Saban won his second consecutive BCS title last month and today just about sealed up his second consecutive recruiting title.
