1 Celebrity College Football Fan We'd Want to Watch Each BCS Bowl Game with
College football's bowl season is upon us, and it begins this Saturday, Dec. 15 with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. The postseason of any sport piques even the most casual fan's interest, but bowl season is special. The bowl selectors' goal is usually to produce the maximum amount of entertainment possible in each match.
In an ideal world, every selector would achieve two things:
1) A sellout crowd split 50/50 between the two teams playing.
2) An overtime victory.
Of course, when it comes to picking someone to join you at a college football bowl game, the casual fan generally won't do. You want to be with someone that knows the story behind your team's journey to potential glory.
Add that to the fact that anyone would want to be seen with a celebrity and you have the makings of a bona fide set of criteria to determine your dream guest at any one of the five BCS battles that college football has to offer.
In chronological order of kickoff, here is the list of one celebrity college football fan we'd want to watch each BCS bowl game with.
Rose Bowl Presented by VIZIO
1 of 5Tiger Woods spent some time at Stanford before leaving for the lucrative life of the professional golfer. (I refuse to call him a dropout because who wouldn't leave college to make millions doing what he loved?)
Woods would be a treasure trove of Stanford knowledge, as he can frequently be seen at games cheering on his Cardinal. Woods would bring knowledge, fun and star power to your experience at the Rose Bowl.
Plus, he would be stoked that he was watching Stanford play in the bowl where Oregon was "supposed" to land if it couldn't get into the title game. Eating stadium dogs and drinking a beer with one of the greatest golfers ever? Yes, please.

2 of 5Burt Reynolds is one of the biggest benefactors to the Florida State football program, and he is certainly on the short list of all-time FSU fans.
Reynolds has donated more money to the school than most people will make in a lifetime. If you want to talk about passion and the Seminoles, Reynolds has to be part of the conversation. Sure, he played football for FSU, but that doesn't cheapen his contribution to the school or the legitimacy of his fanship.
Reynolds would be a top pick to watch the Seminoles take on Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl.
Allstate Sugar Bowl
3 of 5Erin Andrews would be many people's celebrity pick to watch any bowl game with, but she earned her telecommunications degree at the University of Florida. She is absolutely a Florida fan.
Andrews is an icon in the sports world, and her knowledge of the game would rival any football fan's collection of trivial factoids. (Especially if she had the earpiece in and her network on the other end for a "Turbo Boost.")
Andrews has the best voice on the sideline. The voice, the looks, the collegiate background and the analytical skills would push her to the top of any list.
After her appearance on Dancing with the Stars, she could be the inspiration for the nation's first "Sugar Ball" held immediately following the Sugar Bowl. Okay, maybe not, but it's an idea...possibly not my best idea, but an idea nonetheless.
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
4 of 5Erin Brockovich showed up to last season's Cotton Bowl that pitted the Kansas State Wildcats against the Arkansas Razorbacks (Photographic verification via bustedcoverage.com). While other celebrities on this list are famous for different reasons, enjoying a little timeout from the stresses of life would be a great way to spend some time with Brockovich.
Halftime would likely yield an interesting conversation with the activist and inspiration for one of Julia Roberts' best roles ever (Sorry, Pretty Woman. True stories of salvation and justice trump fantasy stories of, well, anything any day of the week.).
For anyone not familiar with Brockovich's story, here it is, via brockovich.com.
Honorable mention: this little girl and her mom. Sitting next to such a diehard fan would be awesome, especially if she added "ducks" to the list of birds she won't color.
2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game
5 of 5Regis Philbin is one of the most recognizable names in American television culture, and he's a staunch supporter of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Here is an excerpt from an ESPN article by Lynn Hoppes referring to the then-upcoming battle with the USC Trojans:
"After 20 years of eating crow and watching this team go down, it's a big year for all of us," Philbin said. "I'm scared to death. I can't predict who will win. I've had my heart eatened (sic) out before. I just know the fans are thrilled like I am that we're here."
It's not difficult to believe that he would say the same exact thing about the national title game. At 81, Philbin would have a special knowledge of his alma mater's history. While the halftime discussion would certainly be lively, it would be impossible to pass up sitting next to him in Miami.
What if the Irish win? Sitting next to an 81-year-old watching his team accomplish the unthinkable would be an awesome experience, regardless of his celebrity status.
