BCS Bowl Projections 2012: Predicting Five Biggest Postseason Matchups

With the 2012 college football regular season almost completed, the excitement over the BCS Bowls on the horizon has everyone projecting which teams will play in each game.

There are five major bowl games each year—Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and the BCS National Championship—and the top teams in the league will be looking to get involved in one of these matchups.

All of the following teams are fighting to get in the biggest game, but this is how all five of the biggest bowls will shake out.

Rose Bowl Game presented by Vizio

Despite the fact that the undefeated season for the Ohio State Buckeyes will overshadow the Nebraska Cornhuskers' berth in this bowl—Buckeyes are ineligible for a Big Ten title—this game will be a way for Stanford Cardinal to showcase just how talented the team really is.

As long as Stanford can handle UCLA in the Pac-12 Championship Game, the Cardinal will have a huge chance to prove how great their program is despite the loss of a star like Andrew Luck against a weak Big Ten opponent.

Prediction: Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Stanford Cardinal

Discover Orange Bowl

The Florida State Seminoles looked awful at times against the Florida Gators Saturday, but they will have a much easier chance at stealing the ACC Title and cashing in their shot to play in the Orange Bowl.

As for the Seminoles' opponents, they will likely face the Big East Champions, Louisville Cardinals. The Cardinals have been solid, but they aren’t on the same level as Florida State and will lose big.

Prediction: Florida State Seminoles vs. Louisville Cardinals

Allstate Sugar Bowl

With a strong finish to the season, the Florida Gators have earned the right to partake in the Sugar Bowl and should be one of the combatants in this battle; especially after their huge win over the Florida State Seminoles.

With a few possible opponents, the love the BCS has for the Oklahoma Sooners will get them into this matchup despite the fact that they do not deserve it. It all comes out in the wash, though, as the Gators will crush the Big 12 pretenders.

Prediction: Florida Gators vs. Oklahoma Sooners

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl

In what could be the perfect battle for hiding both teams’ inefficiencies, the Fiesta Bowl could be the best bowl game of the year if the Kansas State Wildcats are given the chance to play against the Oregon Ducks.

With two mediocre defenses and two of the most potent offensive units in the nation, Oregon versus Kansas State has the potential to be a shootout of legendary proportions. There will be some major points scored in this matchup.

Prediction: Kansas State Wildcats vs. Oregon Ducks

Discover BCS National Championship

There is no better looking game on paper than the potential BCS National Championship Game between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Alabama Crimson Tide. This will be a defensive showcase of the top two units in the nation, but something has to give.

With both offensive units as evenly matched as the defenses, this matchup will come down to which team capitalizes on their opponent’s mistake first. With so much big-game experience, Alabama has to be the favorite in this game despite the BCS Rankings.

Prediction: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
