Ranking College Football Recruits Who Had Monster Game Performances This Season

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

As many high school football seasons are winding down, let's reflect a little bit but with a recruiting twist. Football is a game that is growing and the skill level is improving not only in the college and pro game, but also in the high school ranks and even in youth leagues.

Putting a focus on the prep players, there have some monster statistical games played by many great recruits this 2012 seasons. For this read, let's rank the top recruits who have had huge, unbelievably productive games this season.

Crazy passing stats, rushing yards, touchdowns, sacks, return yardage and tackles, no matter what kind of monster game it was, we'll rank the best recruits who had the best nights right now!

Mike Mitchell, LB

1 of 5

Mitchell is a 6'4", 225-pound LB from Texas who just went crazy on the field on the night of September 14th. In a Week 3 game vs. Royse City (TX) the big 'backer busted out 25 tackles (20 solo) and caused a fumble.

He was everywhere that night, as he was vs. Liberty Christian (TX) when he had 18 tackles (11 solo), two sacks, three QB hurries and topped it all off with 100-yard kickoff return for a TD.

Ohio State could be where Mitchell ends up.

Su'a Cravens, S/ATH

2 of 5

At 6'1" and 205 pounds, Cravens made a name for himself last year when he put his Vista Murrieta (CA) team on his back in the playoffs. Well, vs. Chapparal (CA) on November 2, Cravens had a flashback of last year.

The USC commit lined up at WR and caught eight passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Then, from his natural safety position, he controlled the game by making eight crucial tackles, one sack and causing a fumble.

The Trojans defense would have been helped this year by Cravens.

Derrick Henry, RB

3 of 5

For starters, Henry had a jaw dropping senior season and may be the favorite for Gatorade National Player of the Year.

The 6'3", 240-pound RB from Yulee (FL) High School is committed to Alabama and ran for 3755 yards and 50 TDs this year.

Can you say wow?

The most memorable night has to be on September 21, where Henry rushed for 510 yards and six TDs vs. Jackson (FL) High School.

Thomas Tyner, RB

4 of 5

Tyner came into this season with a chip on his shoulder, as I'm sure he noticed that many recruiting publications moved him down their boards (me included) due to his lingering injuries.

The chip seemed to really be a boulder on his shoulder vs. Lakeridge (OR). In this game on September 14, Tyner just went ballistic by running for 643 yards and 10 TDs.

Just to help out and be a team player, Tyner also added two tackles too. Again, that's 643 yards and 10 TDs. Think about that folks.

Will Grier, QB

5 of 5

As fellow B/R College Football Recruiting Writer Andrew Kuhla detailed in his piece, Grier set some serious records earlier this month.

All the 6'3", 180-pound QB of Davidson Day (NC) did was throw for a lousy 837 yards and 10 TDs. Nothing too major, right?

Wrong, because that pretty much is a new national high school record for passing yards on one game and ties a single-game TD record. For the season, Grier has totaled over 5,200 yards, 64 TDs and just six interceptions.

How's that for a TD-INT ratio? Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina appear to be leaders, shows 247Sports.com.
