FIFA 13: Best Additions to EA Sports' Popular Game

Ian HanfordSep 25, 2012

FIFA 13 will hit the shelves on September 25, featuring all of the world's best footballers and the teams they play for.

EA Sports' popular game will also feature a few new bells and whistles. Enhancing the gameplay and creating as real an experience is possible is necessary for franchise's to continue, and the newest edition of FIFA should pique your interest.

Let's take a look at three features that will have gamers excited, after picking up their copy of this year's game.

First-Touch Control

Without a soft first touch, an entire attack can go awry. FIFA ensured that this year's defenses would have a better chance of dispelling their challengers.

According to EA.com, perfect first touches have been eliminated. This benefits the defense and makes for more realistic gameplay. The site also mentions that "factors such as defensive pressure, trajectory of the ball, and velocity of the pass all factor into a player’s success."

Maybe you like to score 11 goals a game and rule the world via unrealistic circumstances, but that gets old after awhile. EA's new first-touch control will make games more competitive and make your road to success more difficult.

More Intelligent Attack

Don't worry. The new first-touch control won't handcuff your offense completely. EA has an answer for that as well.

Instead of running the same play three different ways like you did before, attackers will actually confuse a defense.

Want a run to the far flag? You got it. Need to pull the defense out of position? Consider it done. This is going to be fun, whether you're playing with a world power or building up an underling.

This year's game will make scoring goals more fun. I can't count how many through balls I've scored on through the years, but the monotony is killer after one half of play. Now, EA gives you a chance to really get creative.

Sophistication is the name of the game here. It's time to cook up some devastating open-field strategies.

Enhanced Career Mode

The new dribbling maneuvers could have gone here as well, but I'm a career mode kind of guy. EA has taken the gloves off and ensured that every option is covered with this year's franchise.

Gamers will be able to control any national squad they want. Play friendlies and qualifiers just like any national team would. Take your squad to the world's biggest tournaments. This year's game doesn't restrict your adventure to just club teams.

On top of that, you can also play as a player. Maybe you want to control one of the world's top young talents. This year's game allows you to prove yourself with your club during league play, before earning a spot on your country's squad.

Some people will stick with their favorite club still, but this is a nice addition. There's no reason to have any restrictions on team selection in career mode, and everyone should give this one a try.
