Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson Calls Teammates Quitters After Blowout Loss to Alabama
Injured Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson called his teammates quitters and then walked out of a postgame press conference after the team’s 52-0 spanking by the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Ray Glier, a freelance journalist who contributes to USA Today, reported the news on Twitter:

"It wasn't pretty to me to sit on the sideline and watch as a player. Sucks I can't be out there and do anything about it. Do I feel that we, at times, gave up out there? Yeah. Absolutely," Wilson said, according to Trey Biddy of Rivals.com. "As a leader it sucks to see people not do their jobs and things go wrong."
Wilson’s remarks are a little bit outlandish considering the odds stacked against his teammates in his absence. Alabama is ranked No. 1 and considered by many to be the best team in the country, coming off a dominant college football championship a season ago.
The Tide have continued that dominance by moving to 3-0 thus far in their 2012 season.
While Wilson may be frustrated, he does have somewhat of a case for his remarks. After suffering a head injury and being removed from the game at halftime against Louisiana-Monroe a week ago, his team has been held to a single touchdown in the six quarters and one overtime period since.
In fact, they have been outscored by an absurd margin of 79-10 during that time span.
Losing to an unknown Sun Belt Conference team should demoralize an SEC team, but it shouldn’t divide a locker room and pit its injured star quarterback against the rest of the team.
There is always the possibility that the Razorbacks just weren’t good enough to warrant their No. 8 ranking at the time of their loss to the Warhawks. Wilson, though, remarked that he is going to do everything he can to turn the Razorbacks' fortunes in the coming weeks:
"I'm going to make sure of it going forward. We've got a big game against Rutgers next week. I'm going to do everything in my power to be a part of it and be the starting quarterback to run out there on the field and get a win. You've got to start with one before you can get the rest of them. I'm going to give you my word that I'm going to do the best in my ability, the best in my power to make that happen.
"
With or without Wilson, one thing is for sure: The Arkansas Razorbacks' 2012 season is in serious danger of falling to pieces in the wake of an embarrassing clobbering by the Crimson Tide.
