College Football Picks Week 3: Top-25 Teams in No Danger of Upsets
Though the college football schedule often brings gifts in the form of easy wins during the first couple of weeks of the season, some teams seemed to be left off that list in 2012.
Fortunately for them, though, they weren't totally forgotten; they just get their easy games in Week 3 instead. That, of course, doesn't mean they're guaranteed to win, but it certainly brings a welcome change of pace and a very good opportunity to maintain their spots in the polls.
Here are some of the squads in no danger of upsets this week.
No. 5 Florida State vs. Wake Forest
This isn't necessarily an easy game for the Seminoles—you can't bank on any conference game as an easy win, no matter how bad your opponent seems to be.
But at this point, Florida State looks like the most unbeatable team in the nation, aside from Alabama. The Seminoles have allowed three points—total—in the first two weeks of the season. One measly field goal, in the second quarter of the season opener against Murray State. No team has scored on the Seminoles for the last six quarters.
And by the way, their offense has scored a grand total of 124 points, too. A scoring differential of 124-3 is going to be tough for Wake Forest to beat, on the road, especially considering the Demon Deacons have barely been able to squeeze by Liberty and North Carolina.

No. 11 Clemson vs. Furman
What is it with the ACC this season? This conference has gotten a lot of flak as it has undergone makeover after makeover in the last several years, but it's looking pretty good right now.
Clemson has played a big part in making its conference look tougher than usual, even after being saddled with an unenviable season-opening matchup against Auburn. Auburn hasn't really looked the same ever since Cam Newton left town, but it is still an SEC opponent in opening week. Nobody wants that.
After taking down the Tigers 26-19, Clemson moved on to the tune of a 52-27 win over Ball State. Furman, meanwhile, sits in third place in the Southern Conference—where the likes of Appalachian State and Georgia Southern also reside—and have endured two straight losses to Samford (24-21) and Coastal Carolina (47-45, 3OT).
Having to go on the road to face Clemson in the wake of that triple-overtime heartbreaker isn't exactly a recipe for success for the Paladins.
Pick: Clemson
No. 7 Georgia vs. Florida Atlantic
Georgia has already been tested in 2012, even though we've only seen it play two games this season. Last weekend, the Bulldogs faced their first conference foe of the season, going on the road to take on Missouri, which was anything but an automatic win.
In what could have been a dangerous trap game for the Bulldogs, they exploded for 32 points in the second half—even after entering the intermission down 10-9—and held the Tigers scoreless in the fourth quarter to cruise to a 41-20 road win. Very impressive.
And now, the pressure will subside a little bit as Florida Atlantic comes to town. The Owls are coming off a 31-17 loss to Middle Tennessee and should present the perfect opportunity for the Bulldogs to keep the momentum rolling.
