The Only Goal You Need to See This Weekend: Osvaldo Solo Stunner Lifts Sao Paulo
It was a good week for great goals in the Brasileiro. Osvaldo just may have scored the best of them all.
First, though, here are the contenders.
During the week, Osvaldo's teammate, the goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni, blemished his own net with a spectacular (or spectacularly bad, however you want to view it) ball-punch own goal against Nautico.

That one can be seen here, but it was too fluky to be our goal of the weekend.
Then there was Neymar's stunner for Santos against Figueirense on Thursday night, a goal he scored only hours after hopping off a 14-hour trans-Atlantic flight from Sweden to Brazil.
That one can be seen here. It was so great that it prompted Santos' president to make a somewhat hip Superman reference in relation to Neymar. But while it was great, we've seen better from Neymar.
With those out of the way, we're left with Osvaldo.
Watch Osvaldo's goal above. We think you'll agree: It's worthy of being named Set Piece's goal of the weekend.
In the clip, you can see Osvaldo—a 25-year-old Brazilian forward whose full name is Osvaldo Lourenço Filho, by the way—show off some very Messi-esque moves on the way to a rocketed long-distance strike into the top corner.
The strike had it all, from power to precision to flair to perfect technique to pure brilliance. It came in the 87th minute, and it sealed Sao Paulo's 3-0 win over Ponte Preta on Sunday.
So what do you say, readers? Worthy winner?
Here are a few more classy goals from the world football weekend:
Zoltan Gera, West Bromwich Albion vs. Liverpool
Demba Ba, Newcastle United vs. Tottenham Hotspur
David Cotterill, Doncaster Rovers vs. Walsall
