Liverpool Transfer News: Assaidi Signing Shows Rodgers' Recruiting Ability
Thanks to manager Brendan Rodgers' excellent persuasion skills, Moroccan Oussama Assaidi has joined the Liverpool attack this season.
Assaidi may not have the name cache of the bigger names that were available during the summer transfer window but he is the type of solid addition that can make an impact. The fact that the club was able to sign him away for just £3 million is nice too.
However, the most impressive aspect of the signing was that Brendan Rodgers was able to persuade Assaidi to leave Holland after spending his entire career in the Netherlands.

Rodgers' ability to convince players that they want to play for Liverpool will be key for building the kind of roster that he wants to take the field. Assaidi matches up very well with the kind of style that he wishes to play so this was a very good under-the-radar signing for the club.
Assaidi himself said that he was unsure about leaving Netherlands and that it wasn't until he talked to Rodgers that he felt confident he wanted to join Liverpool (h/t Goal.com).
""Before I spoke with him [Rodgers], I wanted to stay in Holland - but after talking to him, I made the choice of Liverpool."
"
"I am very happy to work with him. How we think about football is good. In Holland, I played 4-3-3, and he wants to also play like that [here]."
Rodgers has now made three signings since taken over with Assaidi joining Fabio Borini and Joe Allen. While none of these are dominant superstars yet, fans have to appreciate the young foundation that Rodgers has been able to build in a quick and relatively cheap fashion.
Obviously, Rodgers wants to bring an exciting brand of football to Liverpool and that play style attracts young talent. It's Rodgers' ability to recruit players that will ultimately lead to a successful reign as manager of the club.
