Dwight Howard Trade: Which Players Will Make Biggest Impact in New Homes?

Adam FromalJun 2, 2018

When the Orlando Magic decided to ship Dwight Howard off to the Los Angeles Lakers—according to an ESPN report—the big man wasn't the only player who changed teams.

Ten players are changing teams, with the Lakers, Magic, Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers all adding new players to their rosters.

So, which players will make the biggest impacts in their new homes?

Andrew Bynum

The Philadelphia 76ers needed a true low-post presence, and that's exactly what Andrew Bynum brings to the table.

Bynum is the league's second-best center and his back-to-the-basket game will complement Spencer Hawes' perimeter game to perfection. It's not like Kwame Brown is going to keep him out of the starting lineup or anything.

The Sixers have plenty of athletic wing players, but the true center was necessary for them to take the next step during the upcoming campaign.

Bynum was the perfect fit and Philly now must do everything in its power to have him sign an extension.

Dwight Howard

Obviously, Dwight Howard is going to make a massive impact for the Los Angeles Lakers now that he's wearing purple and gold.

He'll fit in nicely with the Princeton Offense, cutting to the basket and finishing almost at will, given his superior size and athleticism.

Additionally, running the pick-and-roll with Steve Nash has to be a dream come true for both players involved.

Howard pushes the Lakers to the top of the Western Conference despite the fact that the Oklahoma City Thunder are the ones who advanced to the NBA Finals last season.

Andre Iguodala

The Denver Nuggets managed to upgrade their shooting guard position from Arron Afflalo to Andre Iguodala in one fell swoop once they inserted themselves into the Dwight Howard trade.

Iguodala will thrive in the fast-paced Denver offense, especially since he'll no longer have to serve as one of the primary scorers. Whereas he and Lou Williams were the top scorers for Philly, he'll play third fiddle to Danilo Gallinari and Ty Lawson in The Mile High City.

With Lawson and Iggy running the fast break, there will be transition opportunities galore for the athletic swingman. The presence of Kenneth Faried, an athletic big man who can run the floor with the best of them and finish at the rim, will only help.

Nikola Vucevic

The former USC big man went from sitting behind Kwame Brown and Spencer Hawes in Philadelphia to a potential starting job with the Orlando Magic.

Now, the sophomore seven-footer will have an opportunity to shine after an efficient rookie season with the Sixers.

He averaged 5.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game last year in limited action while posting a PER of 14.33. Given his size and touch around the basket, he should be able to maintain his level of play when the minutes increase.

The Orlando Magic need for one of the players they received in the deal to blossom, and Vucevic is my pick to be that guy.
