Pac-12 Media Days 2012: What to Take Away from Early Press Conferences
The Pac-12's Media Day isn't telling us anything we didn't already know.
Oregon and USC are the favorites to win their respective divisions. Coaches aren't allowed to comment on recruits. Every single player from every single team is in the best shape of his life.
Yeah, yeah, yeah—we know that stuff.
But that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of intrigue that comes from these press conferences. Let's take a look at the most interesting things to take away from the early action.
Pittsburgh Fans Don't Like Todd Graham
Nay, Pittsburgh fans hate Todd Graham.
Graham, of course, is the former Rice and Tulsa head coach who took the job at Pittsburgh last year. But after a 6-7 season capped off by a 28-6 loss against Southern Methodist in the Compass Bowl, Graham ran to Arizona State when the Sun Devils came calling.
One mediocre season at Pittsburgh does not make for happy Panther fans.
This became clear at Tuesday's Pac 12 Media Day (via Matt Maisel):
"Arizona St set up an #AskASU hashtag for Todd Graham questions at Pac12 Media Days...and it's been taken over by Pitt fans. Hilarity ensues.

If you ever get bored, make sure to go on over to Twitter and search for that hash tag. Let me just say this, there aren't a whole lot of real questions directed towards Graham.
Mike Leach is an Entertainer
Not only is Mike Leach going to bring a dynamic, fast-paced offense to Washington State, he'll also bring along his extremely likeable personality.
First, there was this (via New York Times' Pete Thamel):
"Leach picked Kyle Whittingham as the best Pac-12 coach to hunt or fish with. Twitter can't capture the genius of his answer.
— Pete Thamel(@PeteThamelNYT) July 24, 2012"
Then there was this (via Thamel):
"Someone please put on You Tube Mike Leach comparing Jeff Tuel and Travis Long to Stonewall Jackson and Ulysses S. Grant. Thanks.
— Pete Thamel(@PeteThamelNYT) July 24, 2012"
There were plenty more outrageous moments, such as Leach telling a couple of Stanford players to go "invent something." It's safe to say Leach stole the show. Pullman is going to be happy to have him.
