Viral Video of the Day: David Beckham Surprises Team GB Fans in Photo Booth

Picture the scene now.

You're hanging around London ahead of the 2012 Summer Olympics, and you're asked to wear a Team Great Britain shirt and take a photo-booth picture for an Adidas ad campaign.

Of course you agree and quickly head to the photo booth. As you're having your photos taken, out pops none other than David Beckham.

What would you do?

All of the above happened recently near London's Olympic Park, where Beckham surprised 60 regular peeps by suddenly popping out of a hidden compartment inside an Adidas photo booth. The whole thing was part of Adidas' #takethestage campaign ahead of the Olympics.

Some of the reactions were as hysterical as you might expect. From the Daily Mirror:

Stunned schoolboy Christian Lewis, who was with his mother Elaine, burst in to tears when he spotted Beckham come out of the darkness.

The former England skipper, now playing with LA Galaxy, gave the lad a hug as the youngster’s mother looked on.

Much as we all love poking fun at Beckham, this is actually really, really cool. Not many players could pull off something like this and be recognized by literally everybody.

Most Britons would probably recognize Lionel Messi, but he has no connection to Great Britain or the Olympics. Cristiano Ronaldo might be even more recognizable, and he actually played in England. Again, though, he doesn't have a connection to the Olympics.

Beckham, on the other hand, was part of the effort to bring the Games to London. Coupled with his international superstardom, that made him the perfect choice for what really is a clever ad.

Now, let's get this party started, right?
