Fitz Toussaint: Michigan RB Suspended Indefinitely Following DUI Arrest
On a day when college football was in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, Michigan running back Fitz Toussaint added to the misery when it was announced that he was being suspended from the team following a weekend arrest for a DUI.
Update: Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 2:45 p.m. ET
The charge against Toussaint has been reduced, according to Matt Slovin of the Michigan Daily.
"Michigan RB Fitz Toussaint has DUI charge reduced to driving while visibly impaired, pleads guilty to the latter.

It remains unclear how pleading guilty even to a lesser charge will impact his playing status for the Wolverines. He was suspended indefinitely following the incident.
----End of update----
Michigan head coach Brady Hoke has suspended Toussaint indefinitely, as he noted in a statement, according to Kyle Meinke of AnnArbor.com.
"Fitz made a poor decision and has been suspended indefinitely because of that action. There are expectations that come with being a football student-athlete at the University of Michigan and those responsibilities were not met in this instance.
We will use this as an opportunity to educate Fitz and make sure he understands the high standards that we have established within our program.
"
Toussaint was going to enter the season as one of the keys to the Wolverines offense after running for 1,041 yards and nine touchdowns in 2011. Along with quarterback Denard Robinson, Toussaint helped lead the program to its best season since 2007 and first BCS Bowl win since 2000.
Considering the suspension is indefinite, it will be interesting to see how Hoke and his staff handle Toussaint in the weeks leading up to the start of the regular season.
Michigan starts the season against defending national champions Alabama on September 1 in a prime-time game on ABC.
There are a lot of things more important than football, and suspending Toussaint is the best way for Michigan to send a message.
