WWE Money in the Bank Results: 7 Huge New Rivalries We Could See Going Forward

Sharon GlencrossJun 7, 2018

Drama, shock returns, crazy bumps and weapons...make no mistake about it: Money in the Bank had it all. And as we emerge from WWE's thrilling and noteworthy pay-per-view,  there looks to be a tremendous amount of opportunities for fresh feuds and rivalries coming out of the show.

What's next for Sheamus? What is Dolph Ziggler up to? Who will John Cena cash in his title shot on? What will Miz do now that's he's back from filming The Marine: Homefront?

We come out of MITB with a multitude of questions. And, with this in mind, here are 7 of the most likely rivalries we can see going forward.

Sin Cara vs. Tensai

1 of 7

In SmackDown's action-packed Money in the Bank match, these two wrestlers had some of the most violent and noteworthy exchanges, with Tensai even power-bombing the masked star onto a ladder at one point.

Ouch!

After tonight, we'd like to see a short or long program between this two, stemming from their brutal interaction here.

A storyline rivalry between these two could be extremely entertaining and help revive both men's stagnant careers. Besides, WWE's floundering mid-card needs a decent rivalry to keep it relevant and Tensai vs. Sin Cara could be it.

Certainly it would make for an interesting, unique dynamic: the big scary monster vs. the smaller, quicker underdog, with the resourceful Sin Cara trying to figure out a way to outsmart his much larger foe.

Kofi Kingston and R-Truth vs. the Prime Time Players

2 of 7

Following their loss to Prime & Epico, The Prime Time Players, along with their manager AW, had a heated confrontation with WWE tag team champions Kofi Kingston and R-Truth, culminating in R-Truth throwing water all over AW. The deeply irate manager then had to be held back by his team and he was dragged to the back by his clients.

One thing was clear after tonight: these two teams seem destined for a program over the tag titles. No doubt Kofi and R-Truth, who have both been woefully under-used by WWE's booking team, will be very grateful that WWE are finally trying to do something with the champions.

Tamina Snuke vs. Beth Phoenix

3 of 7

The six Divas tag match may have been simply thrown out there at the last minute as a quick filler match (isn't that the case with most women's matches in WWE these days?), but it was notable for the heated and lively exchanges between former Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and third-generation superstar Tamina Snuka.

Heck, it was Tamina's hard work (she delivered a brutal superkick to Beth in the closing moments of the bout) that allowed Layla to get the pin on "The Glamazon" in the first place!

With this in mind, maybe Phoenix and Snuka should work a program together? Hey, it's not like the (very stale) Divas Division has anything else going on.

Miz vs. John Cena

4 of 7

In one of the most newsworthy moments from the event, former WWE Champion The Miz returned and announced his intention to enter the WWE Championship MITB ladder match later that night.

Interestingly, with his unshaven face, new hairdo and jet-black suit, Miz was sporting a different look. It worked too: he looks far more grown up now and it's easier to take him more seriously.

He didn't win the bout, of course, but he put in a dynamic performance and took some great bumps throughout, helping to make the match something memorable (although it still couldn't hold a candle to the incredible opening MITB bout).

But the real story here was the change in Miz's character. Judging by his speech in the middle of the show Miz is back to make a splash. He's tired of being under-appreciated and over-looked and feels its time for WWE management to start taking him seriously again.

And how else to do this but go after John Cena? With Big Show and John Laurinaitis out of the way, he needs some fresh new heels to face and Miz, with his bold new attitude, is as good a person as anyone.

CM Punk vs John Cena

5 of 7

CM Punk narrowly defeated Daniel Bryan at Money in the Bank in a tremendous match to walk out as the reigning WWE Champion.

A few hours later, Cena won a hard-fought MITB match for the WWE Championship, meaning he gets a title shot at any time or place of his choosing.

As a result of this, most likely we are looking at Punk/Cena at some point very soon, with the two reviving their fondly-remembered feud from last year.

But, hey, if it's any consolation to the current WWE Champion, we're fairly sure Cena is way too nice a guy to pick a time when Punk is at his most vulnerable and then cash in.

Well, probably...

Sheamus vs Dolph Ziggler

6 of 7

Former United States Champion Dolph Ziggler won an incredible opening match at the event to become the latest owner of the coveted MITB briefcase,

Unsurprisingly, the heelish Ziggler tried to cash in the title shot later on in the night when a victorious—but exhausted—Sheamus had just defeated Alberto Del Rio to retain his World Heavyweight Championship.

Of course, Sheamus recovered and quickly hit Ziggler with a devastating Brogue Kick, ending the bout before it even began (the bell never rang, so it did not count as an official match).

While Sheamus may have put a dampener on Ziggler's aspirations at the show, we reckon these two are headed for another feud—and soon.

The Big Show vs. Kane

7 of 7

These two giants fought and clashed several times at MITB in the five-way ladder match and while neither emerged as the winner, we reckon the company might try and do another feud with these two behemoths in the future.

If, for no other reason, than the fact that WWE simply can't think of anything else to do with them. Both 'Show and Kane are kind of stale right now, after all.
