NCAA Football 13: Developer EA Tiburon Creates More Realistic Effort
Developer EA Tiburon impressed with NCAA Football 12 last year.
This year, EA Tiburon has made college football even more realistic, and it will delight the hardcore gridiron fans who take pleasure in the details of America's favorite game.
Greg Miller of IGN.com points out that there are more than 430 new catches in the game, which is hard to even fathom, but becomes more and more apparent as you continue to play NCAA Football 13. Also, players will legitimately swat a ball down now, instead of hovering their hands around the pigskin and miraculously getting a piece of it. These are small details, small animations, but they create a more realistic feel.
What I like the most out of the changes is the fact that you can no longer run back 20 steps with your quarterback and avoid oncoming rushers, while still getting off a perfectly-placed ball. Those who do that this year will likely see their throws go off line or get intercepted. It's a cheap method a lot of us gamers have used on our foes, and it was about time something was done about it.
In place of running all over the field are 20 new QB dropback animations, like it should be. You can drop back three steps, five steps or seven steps, depending on what you want to do and what you anticipate the defense doing.
As Ryan Fleming of DigitalTrends.com noted:
"The more you delve into it, the more you see the fine-tuning at work. It won’t revolutionize the way people play football, but it is deeper than ever before and longtime fans will be impressed by the changes.
"
On top of that, you have different throwing trajectories, which allows you to drop balls over defenders or swing them just past their outstretched hands.
In the same breath, your receivers are more receptive...when they are ready, that is. Now, if you throw a ball too early in the route, your receiver will likely miss it or not see it entirely. These are, again, little adjustments, but they make a big difference to the dedicated gamers, not to mention hardcore football fans.
If the goal is to make a more realistic football game, NCAA Football 13 scored a touchdown this season.
