Izzet Turkyilmaz to Nuggets: Video Highlights, Analysis and Scouting Report
Izzet Turkyilmaz is on his way from Turkey to Denver, at some point...maybe. With the 50th pick in the draft, teams are relegated to drafting for potential more than they are instant impact, and that is exactly what the Nuggets did here.
If Turkyilmaz develops, this is going to be one of the big steals of the draft. However, as you can probably imagine, that is a big if.
What Turkyilmaz Brings to Team
Turkyilmaz has the length and skills that makes scouts drool. He is 7'1" and has the skill to play on the wing. However, he only weighs 211 pounds, and that is not just going to cut it.
He is also 22-years-old. So it's not like the Nuggets are drafting a teenager that they hope fills out.
In all likelihood, Turkyilmaz will be allowed to continue to develop overseas. There is the very real chance that he never steps onto a court, and if he does, it likely won't be for a couple of years.

What Experts Are Saying
The USA Today's Adi Joseph offered this up on Turkyilmaz:
"Turkyilmaz is one of those players who would have been picked in the first round a decade ago. He's a 7-footer with skills to play on the wing. But he's still very raw and may never play in the NBA. That type of risk is acceptable this late in the second round.

Pick Analysis
There is not a lot to complain about with this pick. The Nuggets identified a player they feel has big potential, and they went for him.
There is a good chance that he never develops, and his name is not mentioned when connected to the NBA ever again. However, there is also a chance that he begins a uniquely talented power forward.
