8 Recruits Who Could Decommit Before National Signing Day

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

Recruits these days seem to like committing earlier than they have to as many of them are already committed to schools. However, the flip side of this trend could be that we see more de-commitments.

For this read, I'm here to give you eightย recruitsย that have committed early already that could de-commit before we get to National Signing Day. De-committing is always a shocker, but these eight recruits are showing some signs of doing so.

Let's get started.ย

8. Trey Johnson, LB

1 of 8

Johnson would be a huge blow for Auburn to lose as the Tigers really need to haul in linebackers in this class.

A 6'1", 222-pounder from Georgia, Johnson recently told Rivals.com that he is keeping his options open. Schools like Notre Dame, USC, Miami, Alabama and Penn State are also in the hunt to pry him away from The Plains.

Johnson to Auburn isn't a done deal by any means.ย

7. Deon Hollins, LB

2 of 8

Hollins gave UCLA a commitment this spring, but it appears to be a soft commit. A 6'1", 220-pound OLB prospect that really is an undersized defensive end, Hollins hails from Texas.

He recently told Rivals.com that Texas A&M is still an option for him.

With his skill set and pass rushing prowess, look for the Aggies to sell Hollins on playing the same role that made Von Miller a high first round draft pick.

6. Doug Randolph, OLB

3 of 8

Randolph is a 6'3", 215-pound OLB prospect from Virginia that has committed to Stanford. The question is, will he sign with Stanford?

Randolph has told Scout.com that he is in frequent communication with Notre Dame, and I also warn you to not count out Virginia.

Mike London is trying like the dickens to Virginny prospects to stay home and play for the Wahoos. Randolph could opt to take him up on his offer.

5. Altee Tenpenny, RB

4 of 8

It wouldn't shock me at all to see Tenpenny indeed sign with Alabama, where he is committed right now. I mean, it's tough to turn down 'Bama.

Yet, he is from Arkansas, and the the Hogs' staff won't stop coming after him until he faxes his LOI to Tuscaloosa.

He'll likely take a trip to Fayetteville in the fall and closely monitor the Arkansas coaching situation before making up his mind for good in February.

4. Daniel McMillan, LB

5 of 8

McMillan is the top 'backer in Florida this year and is committed to, well, Florida. The Gators have him in the fold, but they must stay on him as McMillan will look around a bit.

Scout.com states that McMillan will keep Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Florida State as options for himself.ย

Look for all five schools to likely get visits in the fall and winter before Signing Day.ย

3. Derek Griffin, WR

6 of 8

Griffin is a 6'6", 220-pound WR that is from Texas and pledged up to Texas A&M. Kevin Sumlin has to be giddy about getting a player like Griffin into his offense.

Yet, it may not be aย guaranteeย that Griffin stays committed to the Aggies.

He recently told Scout.comย that he likely could take trips to schools such as LSU, Oregon and Alabama. All three programs are capable of pulling a switcharoo, so Aggie supporters should take notice.

2. Caleb Brantley, DT

7 of 8

Brantley is committed to Florida as he's a 6'3", 300-pound DT that can play in both a 3-4 and 4-3. His relationship with Florida has cooled down a bit, according to him.

Brantley tells Scout.com that he only talks with UF coaches here and there and not much on a constant basis. He also states that he will look at USC, Florida State, Alabama and Auburn before anything is final.

Gator coaches need to re-establish the communication lines here or they could lose a great player.

1. Reuben Foster, LB

8 of 8

Now, before you go all crazy and insane, hold your horses and hear my reasoning.

Yes, I think Foster could very easily end up at Alabama and stick to the plan. However, he just seems so at ease with the Georgia coaches and he's from the Peach State, so UGA is still thick in this thing.

Right now, it'll probably still be Alabama, but I also have my eye on the efforts of Mark Richt and the Georgia staff, because they're coming on strong for Foster.
